Waterloo store discontinuing prepaid card program |

Hansen's Dairy Waterloo will be discontinuing the use of the prepaid card program on Dec. 31, 2021.
The prepaid card program began as a membership program, where members would get discounts on milk and other Hansen's Dairy products. However, in 2017, we removed the discount for using the card and made the discounted price the actual shelf price for all customers. This was out of necessity to match with the Cedar Falls store, as we had to use a new point-of-sale system there to allow gas station pay-at-the-pump purchases.
Now our point-of-sale system in Waterloo will undergo an upgrade, and the prepaid program will not be feasible anymore. Waterloo customers will still be able to use up any money on their card, but will not be allowed to reload any money onto the card, effective immediately. Any unused funds on the card as of Dec. 31 may be cashed out and returned to the customer.

The September Customer of the Month is Darnell Eveleth of Cedar Falls.
Darnell's first experience with Hansen's was after eating at Mulligan's, which is next door to our Cedar Falls store.
"My buddy Ethan Staples told me I have to try your ice cream for dessert, and I've been a huge fan since," he said. "The milkshakes this summer were amazing, and they helped me cool off during some of the scorching hot days."
While he certainly loves the ice cream, he said "if you ask my partner she'd tell you I never stop mentioning the butter when we're cooking together." He enjoys it with vegetables and says it goes especially well in his banana bread.
Darnell says the Cedar Falls store is now his usual spot to get all his ice cream, cheese, butter and milk, which he described as "love at first sip."
"I love Hansen's products because I know where they come from, and supporting local businesses is a huge deal for me," he said.

The September Cow of the Month doesn't have many redeeming qualities, but she was the highest milk producer this month at 123 pounds a day!
Dannah was born July 5, 2017. She has had three calves in her lifetime: one bull, and two heifers named Dannie and Dashiki.
Dannah gets her high-producing traits from her grandmother Dazzle, who was the longest-living cow we've ever had on the farm. However, Dannah also likes to poop on humans, escape the milking parlor, and squirt milk everywhere. Oh well, we can't all be perfect.

Ingredients
- 1 box potatoes (about 5-6 medium sized) **
- 1 package Edgewood Locker Smoked, Cured Bratwurst with Cheese*
- 8 cups Hansen’s Dairy Milk (1/2 gallon)*
- 1 cup Country View Dairy Sour Cream or plain Greek Yogurt*
- 2-3 cups Burnett Dairy Shredded Fancy Jack Cheese *
- 1 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper

- Chop potatoes and bratwurst into ½ - 1 inch chunks and place in 2½ - 3 quart crock-pot.
- Add milk and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until potatoes are done.
- Add sour cream and cheese.
- Cook for 1 more hour.
- Add salt & pepper and stir well.
- Top with more cheese or Brenton Garden Vegetable Crackers (also found at Hansen's Dairy Stores) if desired.
- Enjoy!
