This 1.5-day conference focuses on system-wide and collaborative approaches to suicide prevention, with an emphasis on the implementation of the Zero Suicide concept within healthcare providers, first responders, higher education, and other agencies that can serve as gatekeepers for crisis intervention and suicide prevention. Our keynote presentations, along with our breakout sessions, will all focus on clinical practices, survivors, and workplace responses associated with the Zero Suicide framework.

Our keynote speaker, Thomas Joiner, Ph.D., is one of America’s leading authorities on suicide prevention. His interpersonal theory of suicide, expressed in his landmark book Why People Die by Suicide, revolutionized the clinical understanding of suicide ideation and risk. During his presentation at our event, Dr. Joiner will discuss three critical suicide risk factors, present a new theory of suicidal behavior, and review the latest developments in suicide prevention.
| |
Also presenting are Christina Dolan and Heidi Bode of Centura Health, who will lead a plenary session titled “Innovations in Suicide Care.” Under the guidance and leadership of our speakers, this Colorado-based organization embraced and implemented the framework of Zero Suicide to bring awareness and support around best practices in suicide care. They presented their innovative approach to suicide awareness and treatment in testimony before the United States Congress. Highlights of this session will include the importance of collaboration within the organization, community, state, and federal agencies, and the need for robust follow-up and wraparound services for best outcomes. Additional topics will include using data for quality improvement, stakeholder buy-in, and the importance of perseverance.
| We look forward to seeing you in Nashville this September for two powerful days of testimony, research, networking, and inspiration. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities will go quickly, so make sure to make your purchases soon! | *Priority for the dedicated hotel room block goes to members of the Advisory Council, Intra-State Departmental Group, and Emeritus Group. Room block guests not members of any of these groups commit to attending the Advisory Council meeting set to run from 8:30-11:30 AM on Monday, September 25, at Trevecca Community Church. TSPN reserves the right to bill any non-group member guests who fail to attend the meeting in full for the going rate of the hotel room they reserved. |
