Stay Connected. We're advocating for you!
North San Antonio Chamber Members and Partners,

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since COVID-19 altered our way of life. We saw and experienced so much suffering and grief and the impact overall has been significant. The challenges that this has also caused for businesses, especially smaller businesses, have been substantial and will direct how we will rebuild and recover.

Like many others, we took this as an opportunity to find the good and shift and improve how we do business knowing that we will be back even if it's different. We are hopeful that the road to recovery is quick and that all future decisions by our leaders and policymakers are in the best interest of safety and economic success, knowing that this includes helping businesses to thrive.

On the good news front:

We are supportive of the Governor's decision to permit businesses to fully open and allowing them to determine what is best for their employees and their customers | Executive Order. With COVID-19 testing now a norm and the growing availability of vaccinations, we see a promising future. The North SA Chamber recently held its CFO Economic Update with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas-San Antonio COVID-19: Economic Impact, Federal Response, and the Future of the Workforce which gave an encouraging outlook for our economy. You can watch a replay of the update below.

The City is awarding Hospitality Grants to qualifying small businesses. You can find more information about the application and informational webinars below.

The San Antonio business community won its appeal to the Court of Appeals with the Court affirming 3-0 the trial court’s temporary injunction. There is no word yet if San Antonio will seek a review by the entire 4th Court of Appeals or appeal further to the Texas Supreme Court. “The trial court granted the temporary injunction, and this appeal ensued. Because the ordinance’s paid sick and safe leave provision establishes a minimum wage, which is inconsistent with the Texas Minimum Wage Act (TMWA) and thus violates the Texas Constitution, we affirm the trial court’s order.“ Court Opinion | Court Judgement

$1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 was signed into law with the goal of helping to speed up recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic which includes state and local fiscal recovery funds with estimated allocations of $16.7B for the State of Texas, $326.58M for the City of San Antonio, and $388.58M for Bexar County.

Our hearts continue to go out to those who are suffering and have experienced losses. I'm confident that we will make significant progress in our lives and in our economy. The North SA Chamber continues to advocate for you – our members.
