Stay Connected. We're advocating for you!
North San Antonio Chamber Members and Partners,

There are many topics, issues, and bills that are important to the North San Antonio Chamber, but what remains most important is the advocacy on behalf of our member businesses. We continue to advocate on numerous bills in the ongoing 87th Texas Legislative Session, particularly those that are in line with our 2021 87th Legislative Agenda. A few of the featured bills we're advocating for are below.

House Bill 19 relates to the commercial vehicle litigation reform in an attempt to stop the abusive lawsuits which drive up insurance premiums. This legislation is crucial as San Antonio businesses get back to work and cultivate a strong, job-creating community. Investments should be spent on payroll, new hires, and business expansion instead of insurance dollars. Read our letter of support.

This bill relates to incentives for the moving image industry in Texas. By directly investing into the state through incentives that fall under the Texas Media Production Zone, the innovation industry in Texas will flourish, creating an influx of jobs and a great economic impact. San Antonio has been named one of the best places to live and work as a moviemaker, according to MovieMaker Magazine, however, the infrastructure is lacking. We support HB 2417 to develop the innovation industry and grow San Antonio's and Texas's economy. Read our letter of support.

Senate Bill 14 is critical in accelerating our state's economic recovery as many businesses recover from COVID-19. SB 14 will aid in economic recovery by providing predictability and consistency to businesses. This will be useful in rehiring and rebuilding by ensuring businesses do not face conflicting and constantly changing regulations on employment such as employee leave and scheduling. The consistency of SB 14 is necessary to get Texas back to work. Read our letter of support.

I am also pleased to announce the release of our Spring 2019-Spring 2021 City Council Scorecard. This scorecard comes ahead of early voting starting on April 19th and the local May 1st Joint General, Special, and Charter Election. The Scorecard reflects San Antonio's elected officials recorded votes on key issues impacting economic growth and development throughout their current city council term.

As always, our principle mission is to strengthen member businesses through advocacy. Presenting the City Council’s voting record on business-related issues as a ‘scorecard’ is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to this mission.

Sincerely,
