JNESO was made aware that bargaining unit members are unclear about the process when signing up for available time. In your contract this information is located in:

ARTICLE 19 – SCHEDULING AND AVAILABLE TIME

(Page 24 of your Union Contract)

A. Schedules cover a unit or a department


Schedules cover a two (2) week time period and are posted at least two (2) weeks prior to the start date of the schedule. Any time which is uncovered after fixed days for committed hours of the full-time and part-time Employees are accounted for becomes Available Time. All Available time is posted at the same time as the (2) two-week schedule. Employees may sign up for any open time they are willing to work above their committed hours. Any and all signups will be done via the available time sign-up slips, management will provide a time stamp to establish the time of sign-up. The Employer has the right to assign work first to qualified employees who have signed up and will receive regular time pay in the following order:


1. Full-time up to 40 hours per week

2. Part-time up to 40 hours per week

3. Per Diem up to 40 hours per week of available time with any conflicts being resolved by seniority within employment status.


If the work cannot be assigned to an employee at regular straight-time pay, the work may be assigned to employees who have signed up for overtime status on a rotation basis.
