A Note from the Dean of Academics

Dear CECW Families,

Happy New Year! Welcome to spring semester of the 23-24 school year. I want to first congratulate students on their fall semester growth! Students did a wonderful job on final exams and exceeded expectations on their MAP growth exams. CECW students earned a collective growth of 1,216 points between Reading and Math MAPs! Each growth point earned a student a foot of duct tape to use to tape Mr. Wertz to a cafeteria pole on our first day back. Click HERE to read the full article on CECW's incredible growth and the fun had!

With the new semester in full swing, I also want to remind parents/guardians to be checking in regularly with their students and students' teachers to ensure a strong partnership for student success. All parents/guardians have access to Infinite Campus (IC) to see grades, attendance, etc., so please reach out to Mrs. Winchester if you are having trouble accessing IC. Additionally, parents/guardians may have a parent/teacher conference at anytime throughout the semester to check-in on students' growth, strengths, and opportunities for improvement. I am also available to meet with parents to discuss and support student academic needs along with Mrs. Van Zandt, CECW's Student Success Coordinator.

As a reminder, tutoring is held Monday-Thursday from 3-4pm, and students may attend anytime they need to for as long as they need to. Students below 70% in their classes are required to attend. Students should to go to the teacher's room whom they are needing support from before they go to the tutoring room. Students who have run out of work and are waiting on their ride, their sibling, etc. should have an independent reading book or something else academic to work on while waiting. Tutoring is not for socializing, playing games on the computer, or for anything else non-academic.

Please know that you will be hearing much more from me as we get closer to spring state testing, but in the meantime, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I'm looking forward to a great semester!

Warmly,

Mrs. Feilmann, Academic Dean

Dressing Warmer

As the temperature gets cooler, especially in the mornings, please make sure that your student is dressing warmer and in layers. Make sure they bring jackets, pants, beanies, gloves, scarves, etc. Before the bell, if the temperature is 20 degrees or above and is not snowy or icy, students will still be outside. We have limited space and supervision in the cafeteria and we would like to make sure students are not just hanging out in there because they are cold.

Snow Day Information

As a reminder, in the event of a Snow Day being called, CECW lies in Poudre School District (PSD). Charter schools follow the district that they reside in for school closures due to inclement weather. If PSD calls a closure, CECW will also call a closure. We will also follow PSD for a school 2 hour delay (late start).

However, if Weld Re4, Weld Re5J, Greeley School District 6, or Thompson school districts also call any kind of closure or delay due to weather advisories, we take that into consideration as well and may close before PSD, as we have families attend CECW from all over Northern Colorado. We keep all our families’ safety at the utmost importance at CECW.

Please know you will be notified by email, text, and phone call. In addition, change in school schedules or school closures will be posted on social media and the website as soon as possible after a decision has been made.

Staff Spotlight

This week, CECW would like to spotlight Mr. Patrick Molinari, our Director of Campus Culture. Mr. Mo was born and raised just outside of Washington, DC and moved to Colorado in 2005. He came to Colorado to learn to be a teacher after spending the first part of his professional career in various roles in the technology sector. He even worked for Arnold Palmer for a period of time in his life. Mr. Mo has worked in the education field ever since the ’06-’07 school year and is in the middle of his fifth year at CEC Windsor. His favorite hobbies include anything outside – camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking are his favorite things to do. Family time is very important to Mr. Mo, and he counts the time spent with his wife and four daughters as his most special. We are so happy to have Mr. Molinari as a member of CEC Windsor! We are so grateful to have Mr. Molinari as a member of our CEC Windsor Golden Eagles team!
