A Note from the Dean of Academics
Dear CECW Families,
Happy New Year! Welcome to spring semester of the 23-24 school year. I want to first congratulate students on their fall semester growth! Students did a wonderful job on final exams and exceeded expectations on their MAP growth exams. CECW students earned a collective growth of 1,216 points between Reading and Math MAPs! Each growth point earned a student a foot of duct tape to use to tape Mr. Wertz to a cafeteria pole on our first day back. Click HERE to read the full article on CECW's incredible growth and the fun had!
With the new semester in full swing, I also want to remind parents/guardians to be checking in regularly with their students and students' teachers to ensure a strong partnership for student success. All parents/guardians have access to Infinite Campus (IC) to see grades, attendance, etc., so please reach out to Mrs. Winchester if you are having trouble accessing IC. Additionally, parents/guardians may have a parent/teacher conference at anytime throughout the semester to check-in on students' growth, strengths, and opportunities for improvement. I am also available to meet with parents to discuss and support student academic needs along with Mrs. Van Zandt, CECW's Student Success Coordinator.
As a reminder, tutoring is held Monday-Thursday from 3-4pm, and students may attend anytime they need to for as long as they need to. Students below 70% in their classes are required to attend. Students should to go to the teacher's room whom they are needing support from before they go to the tutoring room. Students who have run out of work and are waiting on their ride, their sibling, etc. should have an independent reading book or something else academic to work on while waiting. Tutoring is not for socializing, playing games on the computer, or for anything else non-academic.
Please know that you will be hearing much more from me as we get closer to spring state testing, but in the meantime, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I'm looking forward to a great semester!
Warmly,
Mrs. Feilmann, Academic Dean
