Announcing the new Patient/Family/Visitor/Research Participant Code of Conduct Policy | |
|
Mass General Brigham recently announced our new enterprise-wide Patient/Family/Visitor/Research Participant Code of Conduct policy, which was developed to help maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive and caring environment for all community members across Mass General Brigham. While Mass General already had a code of conduct already in place, this new policy now means that it’s expanded to the system level.
We in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion are honored to have been a part of this process, and want to acknowledge the work of Brian French, RN, co-chair of the MGH Clinical Policy and Record Committee and and our very own Elena Olson, JD, along with other integral members of the Mass General community, for without whom this would not have been possible.

The Center for Diversity and Inclusion provides two awards based on the academic career of the applicant, either as a physician/scientist or clinician-teacher. These awards increase opportunities for underrepresented faculty who are committed to diversity, inclusion and equity, to advance to senior positions in academic medicine and leadership.
In 2005, Marcela G. del Carmen Amaya, MD, MPH, who now serves as President of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO), the largest of Harvard Medical School’s faculty physician groups, and Executive Vice President of Mass General Brigham, was awarded the Clinician-Teacher Development Award. The following year, Will Curry, MD, now Chief Medical Officer of the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Massachusetts General Physicians' Organization and Adeline Rose Wydotis Professor of Neurosurgery received the Physician/Scientist Development Award.
For both, they each cite these Faculty Development awards as transformative moments in their journey that propelled them forward in their careers. To learn more about the impact of these awards on Drs. Del Carmen and Curry, click the links below.
