PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Miami CFAR Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Pathway Initiative (CDEIPI)


The Miami CFAR CDEIPI program in collaboration with Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University is led by Zhibin Chen, MD, PhD, Adam Carrico PhD and Roger McIntosh, PhD.


This program aims to create a collaborative network within the Miami CFAR to train students and postdoctoral fellows from underrepresented groups. Scholars in this program will acquire cutting-edge skills and experience at affiliated Labs. This program builds from existing and new partnerships with the Miami CFAR and the University of Miami.

If you would like to share any accomplishments from your CDEIPI mentors and scholars, please contact Lorena Segarra at lsegarra@gwu.edu. We look forward to highlighting your work in an upcoming edition of the newsletter.

ADMINISTRATIVE CORE UPDATES

The Administrative Core has received 14 site manuscripts for the CDEIPI JAIDS Supplement and anticipates receiving several additional manuscripts soon. The Core has initiated the confidential peer review by sending manuscripts to the CDEIPI reviewers and editors.

PROGRAM CORE UPDATES

The Program Leads did not meet in March and will reconvene in April. The Core continues to remind the Program Leads that the no-cost extensions for Year 1 will end on 5/31/23, that there will be no additional extensions, and that sites are encouraged to spend down their Year 1 funds by the end of May.

EVALUATION CORE UPDATES

The Evaluation Leads did not meet in March and will reconvene in April. The Core shared a few updates with the leads including the deadline for the Q5 survey (April 15th) and the plans to review the cross-site CDEIPI evaluation paper for the JAIDS supplement.
