Governor Christie Vetoes $15 Minimum Wage Legislation
Earlier today at an event attended by Debra P. DiLorenzo, President & CEO, at Pennington Quality Market in Mercer County, Governor Christie vetoed Assembly Bill
A-15 (Prieto/ Wisniewski)
, which proposed to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour January 1, 2017, with annual increases of at least $1.25 per hour every year until 2021 and annual increases thereafter tied to the Consumer Price Index.
This legislation has been vociferously opposed by the CCSNJ and our members, and the entire business community in New Jersey over the past several months.
The CCSNJ commends Governor Christie for his action today, as this enormous increase would have only exacerbated the already outsized cost of doing business in New Jersey.

Allowing in-state competition to Atlantic City casinos will deal a major blow to our regional economy.
Click the link below to join the effort to defeat the November 8 ballot question that would allow for two casinos to be built in North Jersey.
You can help spread the word by following the Coalition's
Facebook and
Twitter pages and sharing the Coalition's posts with your followers so they, too, will understand the devastating impact that North Jersey casinos would have upon our region.

While networking, it is important is to find out as much about the person you are speaking with as you can without trying to inject your own "commercial" into the process. I always ask questions about a person's business and personal interests. People love to talk about themselves and will give you great insight as to who they are, not just what they do.
You can ask simple questions, like: How long have you been in this business? What prompted you to get into this business? What do you enjoy doing while not at work? With questions like these, doors should open up!

Imagine being able to assist local charities by doing something as simple as offering your employees access to beverages in your facility. Coca-Cola, in partnership with CCSNJ, offers members access to the Vend4Cause program. Vending machines and/or coolers supported by Coca-Cola can be placed in your business and a portion of every dollar spent is given to a charity of your choice. For more information, click here.
