Please join us to hear New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Chief Executive Officer, Tim Sullivan, discuss the new tax incentive programs approved as a part of this Act, including how they differ from their predecessors, Grow NJ and the Economic Redevelopment and Growth (ERG) Program, and when businesses that are interested in taking advantage of the programs can start to do so.

Legislative Updates
On January 13, Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey (CCSNJ) Manager of Government Affairs, Hilary Chebra testified before the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee in support of a bill package sponsored by Majority Leader Louis D. Greenwald, which would assist restaurants and Main Street businesses struggling as a result of the pandemic. On January 12, Governor Phil Murphy delivered the State of the State Address, broadcast virtually for the first time in state history due to the pandemic. The address opened with stories from various business owners and residents on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the speech, the Governor highlighted some of the goals he accomplished during his first three years in office, including enacting the $15 minimum wage and passing the millionaires tax, both of which the CCSNJ opposed, and the newly signed tax incentive programs, which the CCSNJ supported. 2020 Fourth Quarter Results
The region’s economy experienced overall declines in business activity in the fourth quarter during the resurgence of the pandemic in the region and associated restrictions, according to the firms responding to the South Jersey Business Survey. Despite current conditions, most of the survey’s indicators for future activity showed increases from the previous quarter, indicating firms’ expectations for growth over the next six months.

To continue supporting our small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Phil Murphy signed A-4853/S-3011 to reduce businesses’ UI contribution rate for a period of time. Read more>>
An Assembly committee Wednesday endorsed a six-bill package aimed at helping restaurants and other small businesses, including a path for food and beverage establishments to expand to 50% capacity if they meet safety measures and depending on COVID-19 activity in their region. Read more>>
