Substitute teachers have the chance to inspire students every day. Great substitute teaching opportunities at Craven County Schools are available through our partner, ESS. You don't need prior teacher experience, just a desire to help students succeed!

ESS specializes in placing qualified substitute employees in daily and long-term K-12 school district positions, such as substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school support staff. ESS provides dynamic solutions to school districts and professional opportunities to passionate educators. The ESS team is made up of dedicated individuals who share a common goal of providing all students with excellent education every day.

Those interested in joining ESS, including both those currently serving Craven County Schools and those looking to serve for the first time, may apply online at ESS.com

ESS and CCS will jointly provide an in-person information session to help people learn more about becoming substitute teachers. ESS offers excellent employee perks, including health benefits, training, support, weekly pay, 401(k), bonus opportunities, award programs, and more. Plus, working as a substitute is extremely flexible – when, where, and how often you work is entirely up to you.

The details for the in-person session are as follows:

Date: Thursday, September 5th

Time: 10am-4pm

Location: Board Room, Central Services Office

Click Calendly link to reserve a spot! (walk-ins are fine, but we'd prefer that people make appointments)

https://calendly.com/.../craven-county-schools-in-person...

Please bring two forms of ID for your I9 form!

If you want to bring your own laptop, that's fine. We will also provide laptops for people to use on-site.

Stay Connected with Infinite Campus!

Infinite Campus offers an Online Parent Portal, which can be accessed via a smartphone app, a mobile device, or a computer. This site will give you real-time access to your student’s records (including grades and attendance) and other important announcements! This innovative portal is designed to allow parents/guardians to not only see their student's class progress and activities but also increase communication with teachers and provide the information and assistance needed to support your student's success.

Get a head start!

We encourage parents and guardians to go ahead and download the app. It is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store- Search Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

By now you should've received your parent portal letter from your child's school, which includes your unique activation key! Your letter will provide step-by-step instructions on getting connected and "in the know" about your child's education!

If you've completed the steps but still need help, your schools will ask you to reach out to the Accountability Department. The Accountability Department is happy to take your call but also recommends emailing for faster assistance. This ensures your message is received immediately, even if they are out of the office and away from the phone.

Please email one or all of these ladies, and they will work together to handle your concerns: Dr. Hillary Boutwell (hillary.boutwell@cravenk12.org), Mrs. Melissa Detwiler (melissa.detwiler@cravenk12.org), and Mrs. Wendy Grantham (wendy.grantham@cravenk12.org).

Thank you, you're doing an amazing job getting acquainted with the Parent Portal!

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, between 9-10 am ET, Wreaths Across America is calling for people across the country to join in a flag-waving event to remind all Americans of the pride, unity and patriotism – that was expressed on the days following the tragedy on September 11, 2001.

WAA would like to extend this invitation to students across the country! This national event will be hosted LIVE on WAA’s official Facebook page and broadcast over Wreaths Across America Radio. WAA gathers every Tuesday morning from 9-10 am ET to raise the American flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance from the Freeport Flag Ladies Monument on Route 1 in Jonesboro, Maine. The monument was built by WAA in partnership with its founder Morrill Worcester, in September 2019, after the Freeport Flag Ladies retired following 18 years of waving the American Flag in Freeport, Maine, every Tuesday morning after September 11.

WAA encourages the American public to join this weekly tradition starting on September 10 by sharing pictures and videos on social media using the hashtag #FlagsAcrosstheCountry. You can also easily submit videos and photos with the following link: http://WreathsAcrossAmerica.memfox.io/flagwaving. Follow WAA on Facebook, tag the page in posts, and share where you are participating from.

Wreaths Across America also offers free lesson plans for Patriot Day (September 11) and Constitution Day (September 17), which are available here.

We hope you and your students will join us on September 10th!

Warm regards,

Cindy Tatum
