EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOLS FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Five of our dedicated Career and Technical Education educators attended the 1st Annual Engineering and Technology Symposium hosted by the College of Engineering and Technology at East Carolina University!

This incredible event focused on connecting higher education with K-12 STEM curriculum standards. This team had the opportunity to engage in facility tours, interactive workshops, insightful keynotes, and panel discussions. They walked away with innovative strategies to bring real-world applications into the CTE classrooms and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

We're so proud of their commitment to enhancing STEM education and can't wait to see how they'll integrate these new ideas to benefit our students.

CTE CHAMP CAMP

We are thrilled to share the success of the Craven County Schools Career & Technical Education (CTE) CHAMP Camp, hosted at New Bern High School from July 8-11, 2024. This enriching event provided our middle school students with the unique opportunity to delve into various career pathways, including agriculture, construction, engineering, culinary arts, health sciences, early childhood education, and computer science.

Throughout the camp, students were able to plan for their future, earn valuable credentials, tour local businesses, and visit post-secondary institutions. Additionally, they had the chance to hear directly from industry professionals, gaining insight into the demands and rewards of various careers.

The CTE CHAMP Camp not only equipped our students with practical skills but also inspired them to envision and pursue their future careers with confidence. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the camp's success and to our enthusiastic students for their active participation.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this experience on our students' academic and career journeys!

AVID CONFERENCE 2024

CCS staff members from ten schools recently attended the AVID Summer Institute in Baltimore near the Inner Harbor.

AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, creates a career- and college-going culture by increasing rigor and empowering students with strategies for success.

At the conference, educators attended different Community of Practice sessions and spent strategic planning time with their Site Teams, crafting goals and planning for the upcoming school year.

This professional development offering builds capacity and enthusiasm among the staff at our AVID schools and helps with implementing AVID in the classroom.

Our staff cannot wait to get back to school to showcase what they learned!
