The 2024 Market Price Study is Happening Soon!
In the monthly Provider Portal trainings, we will also discuss the upcoming Market Price Study.
The Market Price Study summarizes child care prices, local supply, and demand across the state based on the data collected through the Market Price Survey. This study fulfills the federal requirement that the state complete a market price survey every two years.
The Market Price Survey is a collective effort across the state to gather information about the price and supply of child care in Oregon. It is a survey for all child care providers in the state, and your input is invaluable. By sharing information about your child care program, you are directly contributing to your community's understanding of the price of child care in Oregon. Your participation is not just important, it's essential.

SOREN Summit August 5-9, 2024 | |
SOREN is organizing the first annual Summit, which will take place during the week of August 5-9. Over 60 courses will be offered simultaneously in Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath Counties - and every one of them aims to bring us closer to creating school environments where more people feel safe, know they matter, and experience belonging.
All of the courses are an answer to calls to connect with one another and to engage in professional learning that is so meaningful and relevant that we are driven to attend - not because we are required to, but because we want to.

ROOTED BEGINNINGS:
A 2 day ECE session in Josephine County at the Grants Pass Highschool Library
August 5th and 6th, 2024.
Cultivating Community and Fostering Independence in Early Childhood for ECE teachers and childcare professionals working with children 0-6 years, preschool and childcare administrators, and counselors.
How can we encourage children to build a strong sense of self and empathy for others within their community? We will explore essential foundations and practical tools anchored in the latest brain science research, trauma and attachment theory, and social emotional learning practices.
Woven throughout the workshop we will explore the impact of power and inequities and ways to move towards more anti-racist practices for our youngest learners.
We will explore how to:
- Understand behavior as communication so we can support young children building socially helpful ways to communicate.
- Strengthen our own self-regulation and co-regulation skills to create safe classroom environments.
- Apply a trauma-responsive and equity-focused lens so that we can better support our early learners.
- Build children’s capacity for independence and agency and lay foundations to build compassion and empathy.
Gain new ideas to help early learners | Regulate their bodies and brains | Build emotional and feelings vocabulary | Connect with peers and caregivers | Begin to problem solve independently | Grow age-appropriate communication skills.

NAEYC Liability Insurance Survey
NAEYC recently launched a new national survey designed to learn more about the specific challenges programs are facing in accessing and affording liability insurance, informed by their January survey, several recent state surveys, and conversations they have had with educators, experts, and state advocacy stakeholders from across the country. For this survey, NAEYC is specifically targeting responses from individuals in programs who are responsible for decisions regarding liability coverage. If that is you, please take the time to help further our understanding by taking the survey.
