CCMS Announces First Men’s Health Forum
Gary Swain, MD, CCMS Immediate Past President
| |
|
CCMS is pleased to announce the inaugural Men’s Health Forum, which will be held on Saturday, October 19th between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm at the Telford Building Auditorium at Naples Comprehensive Healthcare (NCH).
While we have had a Women’s Health Forum which has been well-attended for years, we have not had a similar program for men’s health. This event is free and open to all patients in SWFL who would like to attend. We will publish the event through emails to the Women’s Health Forum attendees and through local media.
Presentations will include cardiology topics such as Preventive Cardiology, Advances in Valvular Heart Disease, and Management of Atrial Fibrillation. Other topics will include Dementia Screening and Treatment, Fatty Liver Disease, Male Hormone Replacement, Metabolic Syndrome, and Prostate Cancer Screening and Treatment.
As this is a first attempt at a men’s program, we are uncertain of the amount of interest that will be generated. If it draws enough interest from the community, we look forward to the program becoming a regular event with opportunities for CCMS members to apply for presentation and/or exhibitor spots. The program for this year’s trial run has already been determined. We hope the event will generate interest in both our patients and our physicians, to continue in the future.
