Charitable Values Count!

Kathy Anderson

President and Executive Director

Operating efficiency leads to more charitable dollars!

Following a record year of granting of $84.5M in 2023, our goal in 2024 is to continue the flow of charitable giving to support the mission of charities aligned with the values of our faith. Charitable giving comes from the heart and the head!

From the heart, we want to be assured that our giving is reaching those that we care about – perhaps it’s the homeless, the hungry, the uneducated, the suffering, and those struggling with their faith. We do diligence for each grant we make to make certain that our giving reaches people in need and is aligned with our faith values.

From the head, it’s all about the most cost-effective delivery system to get our charitable dollars to the end recipients. That means checking each beneficiary organization to make sure that most of their fundraising is passed along to the beneficiaries, and how that compares to their operating costs.

This is important for CCF-LA, too. We are a charity and must assure our clients that we are lean and capable, with the right size of budget, staff, and contractors to deliver our client funds efficiently and impactfully. Currently our cost of operating is ½ of 1% of the value of the assets we have under management. Another way of putting it is that our operating costs are 3.5% of the total value of the grants we made in 2023.

These are important metrics for CCF-LA, an organization that is both a financial institution and a charity. As we move ahead with this new year, we will continue to right-size and seek efficiency in our operations to maintain our competitive edge.
