2021 50th Anniversary Builders' Showcase of Homes Issue
January 2021

Now, more than ever, the CCCIA is here to help.
|
|
Dear CCCIA Members:
First and foremost, I want to wish each one of you a very Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has encouraged me to take that step into the President’s seat, especially my family. I am honored to be your President for the 2021 year. I encourage everyone I haven’t met to please introduce yourself to me. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Last year was a very challenging year and 2021 is shaping up to test our resolve as well. We lost our friend and ally, Mayor Joe Coviello on January 13th. We want to express our deep condolences to his wife Diane and his children. Mayor Coviello was a wonderful partner. His passing means a tremendous loss for us all. He will be missed. I wish health and healing to everyone and hope that 2021 eventually improves and creates the turning point to normalcy we all need.
2021 is the 50th anniversary of the CCCIA and to celebrate we have many exciting events to look forward to. The first and my absolute favorite event is the Builder’s Showcase of Homes. Congratulations to all of you! You should feel a sense of accomplishment and pride with the hard work that is put into these beautiful homes.
We cannot forget to thank Mr. Bill Johnson and his staff for working endlessly to make sure everything runs smoothly. Thursday, January 21st we will have a socially distanced awards dinner for builders and nominees only. Awards details will be shared with the remainder of our membership on Friday, January 22.
Please know that if you need anything, I am always available to help. Please contact me with your suggestions and ideas. My contact info is below.

Common misconceptions & 10 characteristics of this management style
|
The term “servant leader” can be viewed as an oxymoron. How can a person lead and be a servant at the same time? A common misconception is that servant leaders are practically subservient to their followers. But that isn’t true servant leadership.
A true servant leader leads with others in mind, but is willing to make decisions when the time is right. They build people up instead of keeping them down, lead by example and cultivate a culture of trust within their organization. Servant leaders are charismatic and often attract followers due to their willingness to acknowledge others.
Common Misconceptions
It’s not uncommon for an executive to wrestle with the idea of being a servant leader—“servant” often being the controversial keyword in question. Historically, the term has often been associated with indentured servitude or slavery. As such, there a number of misconceptions associated with servant leadership. Some of the most common misconceptions include:

CCCIA - 50 Year's Old
Members & Friends,
I want to wish all our members Happy New Year! 2020 is finally behind us and we are looking forward to a very productive 2021. I would like to welcome our new 2021 CCCIA President Melanie Williamson. I look forward to working with Melanie this year and keep the CCCIA moving in the right direction. We have reached a huge milestone, this year our 50th Anniversary of the CCCIA. We plan on celebrating all thru out 2021 and we have a lot in store for our members.
We start of 2021 with one of our marquee events the CCCIA. The 2021 CCCIA Builders Showcase of Homes. This year we have a great selection of homes for our members and the public to view. In total, 26 to be exact. The Showcase will take place the last two weekends in January and the first weekend in February. All the information you need to know can be found at the all new www.cccia.org.
As always, if you know of anyone who could benefit from membership in the CCCIA we gladly welcome the referral. We have been the watchdog for the industry for the last 50 years and have accomplished much for our members in that time. We are stronger in numbers! We could not do what we do without your support.
In closing, as you know our industry lost not only a great supporter but friend in Mayor Joe Coviello. I can remember before Joe ran for office seeing him and Diane at meetings as CCCIA members. Mayor Joe, once elected, always made it a point to attend our meetings and always checked in with me to see how everything was going and if our industry needed anything.
One of the best memories I have of Mayor Joe though wasn't even CCCIA related. Mayor Joe came out the Storms Field one Saturday morning to watch our Tiny Mites play football on the main field. Mayor Joe was a coach for many years in the Storms program. I currently serve as Vice President at the Storms Association and on game days, I also call all the games from our press box. After watching the excitement of Mayor Joe going down to the field for the coin toss, I got to spend the next hour just talking about youth sports and our kids. Mayor Joe also shared some stories with me from his playing days in college and even an old YouTube video I still have. It was an awesome morning and just another example of how much Joe loved this City.
I will miss our talks and I thank you for all you did to move our City forward. Rest in Peace my friend.
