Construction/COVID-19 End of Summer Update
October 2020

Now, more than ever, the CCCIA is here to help.
|
|
Dear CCCIA Members:
I hope this letter finds everyone continuing to do well and ready for some positive changes.
As we all are aware the final phases of openings are now underway. With that said, as you have seen from the resent emails sent by our CCCIA Executive Director Bill Johnson Jr. we are thrilled to have hosted our first in person Dinner Meeting in seven months. The October Dinner Meeting was limited in the number of seats available and all CDC guidelines were available to be followed. Best of all having the NEW City Manager Rob Hernandez address the membership made this an event not to be missed!
Adding to our positive outlook, the Clay Shoot Out is scheduled for November 6th, Another dinner meeting will be on November 12th and we are in the process of booking our Holiday Dinner Event. Did you know that 2021 is the 50th anniversary of the CCCIA? Due to this we anticipate that the 2021 Builders’ Showcase of Homes will be a huge success and we plan to celebrate ALL YEAR LONG!
Fall is here and the year is almost over. Things are starting to feel more normal. Our friends from the North are arriving, traffic is increasing, and school is in session. Please be very careful out there. “Season” is around the corner.
In closing, remember COVID 19 still exists. There are still many risks. Please willingly set a good example for others and comply with businesses Mandatory MASK policies and social distancing. We still have a way to go so continue to use good judgement, be smart and continue to be SAFE!

October Dinner Meeting did NOT disappoint. Maximum capacity crowd and the NEW City Manager, Rob Hernandez

Thank you to Boral Roof tiles for sponsoring the October Dinner Meeting. Boral did their sponsorship right. They provided decorative banners and goodie bags for all attendees. The dinner was delicious and our speaker was enthusiastic and engaging. Viewing Cape Coral through his eyes was inspiring and we cannot wait to see these projects materialize
Fort the November Dinner Meeting, we will allow a maximum 84 attendees. Reserve your seat as soon as possible. We will continue to highly encourage social distancing and the wearing of masks. Following CDC guidelines, is the best way to ensure that we do not have to curtail our meetings the future. Would you like to learn more about our meetings and future events? Do your Trade Partners Measure up?
Why not insist on working with other CCCIA members?
|
|
Trade partners come in all shapes and sizes. For many contractors, greatness is simply based on how they perform on bid day. In competitive market situations, it becomes all about how low you can go. Unfortunately, there is a huge disconnect from this bid day dance routine and the actual performance in the field. It is this conundrum that creates internal friction as well.
Those same trade partners always seem to pop up on bid lists—much to the chagrin of the operations teams. In fact, many managers and superintendents feel as if their blacklist becomes the estimator’s go-to list. With the risk of piling on the estimators, there is probably also a sizeable disconnect in the feedback loop that the teams use to gather true performance data. It’s important to note that the phrase “They stink!” does not constitute actionable and objective data. Working with fellow association members (Like the CCCIA) can result in better overall outcomes.

Why a winning bidding strategy starts with finding your niche market

Face it: Most companies could stand to improve their bidding strategy. And if you’re one of them, it’s okay to admit it. Get tips for what you should be looking for to improve bids long term and the key components of a strong plan.

CCCIA - Industry Update
Members & Friends,
I hope this message finds you all well. October has been a busy month for the CCCIA. After 6 long months, we finally had our 1st CCCIA Dinner Meeting since March. While maintaining CDC guidelines and social distancing, we were able to accommodate 75 guests to hear our new Cape Coral City Manager Rob Hernandez give his vison of Cape Coral to the membership. We even offered a virtual meeting thru Zoom for those members that wanted to hear Mr. Hernandez but wanted to do so from the comfort of their home or office.
We are planning our next dinner meeting for November 12th at Palmetto-Pine Country Club and we will be limiting attendance to 84. We will continue our Virtual component thru Zoom and we are looking to put together a contractors roundtable panel for the meeting topic. Information will be going out shortly on this and we encourage you to sign up early as this meeting will sell out.
The 2nd Annual Preferred Materials CCCIA Clay Shoot is scheduled for Friday November 6th. This is our first event of the year and we are looking forward to a great day out at the Bermont Shooting Club. Information for the event is listed above and we still have sponsorship opportunities available.
Finally, we are gearing up for our 2021 CCCIA Builders Showcase of Homes event. This event will take place the last two weekends in January and the first weekend in February. With 2021 being our 50th anniversary, we are looking forward to great event to highlight our Contractors and 50 years of service in our community. Information for this event will be out shortly.
As always, if you know of anyone who could benefit from membership in the CCCIA we gladly welcome the referral. We have been the watchdog for the industry for the last 49 years and have accomplished much for our membership in that time. We are as only strong as our members and without your support, we could not do what we do.
I wish you all success! Please stay safe.
Respectfully,
Bill Johnson, Jr, IOM
