Spotlight on Referrals!
Now, more than ever, the CCCIA is here to help.
Dear CCCIA Members:

Construction Crime Prevention is the subject of our Thursday, April 8th Dinner Meeting. Cape Coral PD and Lee County Sheriff’s Office will introduce you to the Detectives and Officers behind their new Task Forces. We chose this subject specifically to appeal to our builder members and the subs and affiliates that support them. It is important that you understand the tools available to protect your job sites and customer assets. If you haven’t already signed up yourself, foremen, job site superintendents and/or team leads, please do so today. The Mayor of Cape Coral, Council members and building officials from Cape Coral and Fort Myers will also be in attendance. Do not miss this opportunity to learn how you can protect your businesses by working with the NEW Construction Crime Prevention Task Forces.

Later in the newsletter you will see details about a new Referral Program that pays you to refer your vendors and friends to the CCCIA. Once your referral applies for membership, is vetted, and accepted, we will credit your account $25 for each referral. These credits will be applied toward future dues! It is a profitable way for you to help us grow our numbers and for you to network with people you trust. Thank you in advance for putting some thought into your referrals. If everyone refers just one new member, we would be the strongest association in Cape Coral.

NEW! Every-other month we will host a FREE Webinar that will feature an industry expert to present specific subjects of interest to our industry. April 14th kicks off with “Florida Lien Laws Explained” with Scott Hertz, Construction & Real Estate Attorney with Aloia | Roland. June will be “Escalation Clauses” also with Scott Hertz, August “Construction Accounting” with Peg Sheehan, Founder of Accountology Bookkeeping Solutions, October “Construction Marketing” with Chris Spiro and Connie Ramos-Williams and December’s subject to be determined with feedback on previous webinars. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about complex subjects explained in plain terms by Member experts.

Foursomes for the May 7th CCCIA Spring Classic Golf Tournament are filling up fast. Be sure to reserve your spot soon. We are still looking for a signature sponsor, golf hat sponsor and several other category sponsors. If you are interested, please let me know.

I know I have been MIA since the first Covid shut down. I live to mix and mingle with all of you and to spread the word of the CCCIA but I was not willing to risk my health. With that said, I am now fully vaccinated and soon I will be responsibly networking again.

In the meantime, we just rolled out a fun and fruitful referral program that will allow you to earn membership credits. You are already working with these businesses. You already know them and trust them, so tell them about the CCCIA. Tell them about all of the benefits you receive by being a member. Tell your referrals how the CCCIA was instrumental in lowering Cape Coral permit fees by 25%. Let them know that the CCCIA advocated upgrading the Cities mobile devices to facilitate permit processing in the field. Tell them how the CCCIA backed additional headcount at the Building Department to serve our industry faster and more efficiently.

We cannot do this work without our members. We are stronger in numbers. Our strength as an organization comes from us all working together to be heard at the city, county and state level.

I know you are all very busy. Please make the CCCIA a priority. In times of feast and times of famine we are always here to support your businesses. Your membership allows us to work on your behalf to make building and living in Cape Coral a more pleasant experience. New memberships drive our ability to make an impact.

We lost another ally.....
John Carioscia passed away on March 28, 2021 from complications of Covid-19. He was a true friend to the CCCIA and he was a two term District 2 Councilman for the City of Cape Coral. We send our condolences to his family and want them to know that we too feel a profound loss.

The City of Cape Coral Adopted the new 7th Edition 2020 Florida Building Code on 12/31/20.

Permits applied on before 12/31/20 will fall under the old 6th Edition 2017 Florida Building Code.

The CCCIA along with the Lee BIA put on a code class in December to help our members with the significant changes. Please click the links on the left for more information .

The City of Cape Coral’s building division is using the QLess sign in and “join the line” for permitting services on line or via cell phone app.

This system will greatly enhance your customer experience and keep you from waiting long periods of time in City Hall.
