Memorial For Rex S. Hime In Sacramento

The family of Rex S. Hime, CBPA Founding CEO and President Emeritus, is planning a public memorial for Rex in Sacramento on March 16th, 2 – 4 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Sacramento.

Remembering Rex

Rex S. Hime, CBPA Founding CEO and President Emeritus, February 15, 1948 – February 4, 2023. Rex passed away at his home in Loomis, CA, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rex lit up a room when he walked in – not just with his bright Hawaiian shirts but with his intellect and passion. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Rex played a critical role in establishing CBPA's legacy as the voice of commercial real estate in California. In his honor, let's take a look at the last 50 years of CBPA.

Rex was a fixture in the Sacramento capital community for nearly five decades. Check out this video tribute to Rex and CBPA from Governor Gavin Newsom.

REX'S OBITUARY

In Lieu of Flowers: CA State Fair Scholarship Program

In lieu of flowers, Rex's family has requested that donations be made to the Friends of the California State Fair. While most people love the State Fair, Rex had a special affinity for the yearly event. For nearly 28 years, he was a powerful voice on the Cal Expo Board of Directors. He was continuously re-appointed by Governors on both sides of the aisle and was their longest serving board member.

Government Affairs Update

With the February 17th deadline to introduce bills behind us, over 2,600 potential new laws are now in play. CBPA and its affiliated organizations have begun the process of identifying legislation of impact to in the commercial, industrial, and retail real estate sector. Facing hundreds of bills with the potential to impact our industry, CBPA's industrywide legislative meeting will take place on March 24th to identify key bills of interest.
