Update on AB 1000 - A De Facto Ban on New Warehouses

Assembly Bill 1000 (Reyes; D-Colton), a de facto ban on warehouses, was heard by the Assembly Natural Resources Committee on Monday. As expected, the bill passed through committee on a strict party line vote, with Democrats supporting and Republicans opposing. Despite passing through committee, major concerns were raised with the legislation from several Democrats, who reserved the right to not support the bill on the Assembly floor. The bill will be heard by the Assembly Local Government Committee next Wednesday.

We encourage companies to join CBPA and its affiliates in opposing AB 1000. A template and instructions on how to submit a letter of opposition have been provided.

New Study Reveals Priced-Out Estimates for 2023

The National Association of Home Builders released its study of "priced-out" estimates for 2023, showing how higher prices and interest rates affect housing affordability. The study shows that every $1,000 increase of the median-priced home in the state leads to 7,243 Californians becoming priced out of the market. This is a primary reason CBPA works hand-in-hand with the its partners on housing legislation to ensure a vibrant economy and opportunity for all Californians.
