Look Fabulous - and Support Ready to Run™

and NEW Leadership™!

It's time for something new! Get a new spring look, and EILEEN FISHER will donate 10% of all sales on Saturday, March 22 (both in-store and at eileenfisher.com) to help the NEW Leadership™ and Ready to Run™ programs - not only in New Jersey, but at our partner programs around the country. Even better, you'll get $25 off your purchase of $50 or more (event day only). Like CAWP, EILEEN FISHER wants to see more women step up and speak out-in Congress, in local government and on community boards. That's why they're helping to support these essential CAWP programs - and also showcasing Rebecca Sive's book, Every Day is Election Day: A Woman's Guide to Winning Any Office, From the PTA to the White House. Catch the buzz at your local store: eileenfisher.com/stores. Details will be available in mid-March on the EILEEN FISHER website.

Are You Ready to Run™ -- or Ready for Your Next Step in Politics?

New Jersey women thinking about getting political can learn everything they need to know at
Ready to Run™ NJ on March 21-22, 2014 in New Brunswick. CAWP's bi-partisan training program offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from prominent elected and appointed leaders, campaign consultants, and party officials about how to get ready to run - or how to get involved even if you're not ready quite yet. Topics covered include fundraising, navigating the political parties, working with the media, and developing a campaign plan.

For more information about Ready to Run™ or to register, please visit our website or contact Deanna-Marie Norcross at (732) 932-9384, x223 or dnorcros@eagleton.rutgers.edu.

Latest CAWP Fact Sheet Lists All Women U.S. Presidents

What women presidents? Oh yeah, that's right....Read thoughts about the subject in CAWP's blog, footnotes.

Tell Gilda!

Have you ever wondered how CAWP provides detailed, up-to-the-minute information about women candidates and officeholders from the state legislatures on up? The magic occurs in the office of information services manager Gilda Morales. She and her interns gather, tabulate and report it all - and you can help! If you hear about a special election, a woman appointed to fill a vacancy, a death in office, or a woman getting ready to run, shoot Gilda an email (gmm@eagleton.rutgers.edu). Then, when you see your information incorporated into our online data, you can bask in the knowledge that you're a part of Gilda's team. Thanks!

More Female Elephants

In  "The Elephant Trainer,"The Atlantic's Michelle Cottle profiles Christine Toretti and her efforts to increase the number of GOP women officeholders with her new super-PAC, Women Lead.

So What Else is New?

Rebecca Traister, in The New Republic, reminds us that "It's (Still) Only Women Pols Who Get Judged on their Family Life."

What Catfight?

As reported by Caitlin Macneil in Talking Points Memo, Senator Claire McCaskill raises a good question: Why Does a Disagreement Between Two Women Get So Much Attention? The subject is different approaches to sexual assault in the military proposed by McCaskill and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
