A Note from the  CAS C Staff: 
Greetings CASC'ers

Join us this month in honoring the university wide first annual " Mental Health Awareness " advocacy week, and the Office of Multiethnic Student Affairs "LatinX Heritage Month Program" We hope that you'll take time this week for some vital self-care in light of midterms, and engage in diverse campus programs this month. Details on exciting new events are listed under campus programs in the description.

We especially want to bring your attention to the  Food and Social Justice "CASC Talk" hosted next Thursday October 19th from 6 - 8PM. We hope that you'll join us for a panel discussion on race, food sovereignty, urban farming, and the food justice movement. For questions about the program, email cascboard@umich.edu

Course Substitution Request: If you do not see a course listed that you think should count for your CASC minor, please email the syllabus and a short paragraph about which cluster you think it should count for and why to cascminor@umich.edu.

Senior Audit
Please fill out your senior audit as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment or visit drop-in to speak with CASC Academic Advisor Joe Galura.

Course Enrollment Petitions:  Students must submit a petition found on the CASC website to enroll in SW 300, 305 (section 1 & 2), and SW 401. If there are any questions or concerns, please email   cascminor@umich.edu .

CASC Talk: Food and Social Justice
Join us in a panel discussion on race, food sovereignty, and sustainability within the food justice movement. Panelist engaged in food justice efforts including organizers, activists, and advocates, will share their experiences, challenges, and strategies toward action, namely in urban neighborhoods. CASC/MSW SSW Application Essay Writing Workshop
Current CASC students who are applying to the MSW program at the University of Michigan will have the opportunity to review their MSW application essays with CASC alumni who are currently in the MSW program. Please sign-up in advance for a time slot on this google calendar.  To see the available time slots, ensure the date is on November 1, 2017.

Direct Action & Research Training (DART)
DART hires and trains organizers to build organizations that successfully address issues including school-to-prison pipeline, expanding access to health care, and fighting for immigrant rights. Funding Opportunities
UM Library Student Mini-Grants
Student mini grants (up to $1,000) 
support innovative and collaborative projects that make a real-life impact. Projects must strengthen community partnerships, enhance global scholarship, and/or advocate for diversity and inclusion.  Learn more and apply .   Applications due Friday, October 13.

Books For a Benefit Public Service Scholarship
One college/university student will be awarded $500 to honor their dedication to public service and community engagement.  Learn more.

MUSIC Matters CoMMunity Partnership
MUSIC Matters will be offering one service-focused student organization a $500-$2,500 grant to help fund a new or existing project. If interested, fill out this application and return it to fentmorg@umich.edu by Sunday, October 22 at 12PM.

Boren Awards Information Session

Socially Engaged Design Awards
The Center for Socially Engaged Design (C-SED) will recognize design teams that demonstrate substantial attention to social, cultural, economic, and environmental contexts in their design process and presentation.
