Announcements

Blood Battle

The annual Michigan vs. Michigan State blood battle is currently under way! The blood drive is now through February 24. This year's goal is to donate 12,000 pints. To see a schedule of on-campus locations to donate and to set an appointment, visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code "goblue."

 

APO Service Organization Fair

Organizations like Peace Corps, Michigan Reading Corps, Food Corps, Teach for America, and more will be present in a career fair-style event to talk about what their organizations do, how you can apply, and answer other questions you may have.

Collected But Not Connected: Becoming Greater than the Sum of Our Parts

This is a day-long, dialogue-centered retreat in which we hope to strengthen the ties among different members of the Michigan community. As part of the MLK Symposium, we will dialogue about race but focus on its intersectionality with three other identities: gender, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation. Register here.

SAPAC Volunteer Training

The SAPAC Volunteer Training program is an intensive 30-hour training that provides in-depth information on issues related to sexual and intimate partner violence. Training runs from January 28-February 9. AMCULT 390: Internship in Arab American Studies/Arabic

Students looking to take an Action elective this term can enroll in AMCULT 390! This course offers students an opportunity to intern with a community agency in either Dearborn or Southfield. Students can sign up for 2 credits (6 hrs/wk), 3 credits (9 hrs/wk), or 4 credits (12 hrs/wk).  Interested students should contact Emily Lawsin, the internship faculty advisor, or ARABAM.Internships@umich.edu.

 

AMCULT 498: Organizing Culture

This course offers students an opportunity to explore the public work of organizations. This course also fulfills the upper level writing requirement.

 

Detroit Community Based Research Program

Want the opportunity to live and work in the city of Detroit? The Detroit Community Based Research Program offers students an opportunity to work 35 hrs/week for 10 weeks in Detroit over the summer. Learn more here. Apply hereApplication due February 14.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse Summer Research Program

Under this program, students underrepresented in the biomedical, social, clinical and behavioral sciences are paired with NIDA funded scientists at research institutions across the United States for 8-10 weeks during the summer to work in the field of substance abuse and addiction research.
