NEW CASA VOLUNTEERS SWORN IN

On Monday, May 13th, twenty-one new CASA volunteers were sworn in by Judge Pickard after completing 5 weeks of training. These new volunteer child advocates are now assigned to advocate for the best interest of 36 children in foster care. This is the 4th graduating class in 2024 resulting in 60 new CASA volunteers this year.


Thank you to all of these new CASA volunteers, their families and friends who attended the swearing in ceremony and the Judges who attended. The Judges are pictured (left to right) includes Judge Pickard, Judge Giuliani, Judge McConnell, Judge Gordon and Chief Judge Wiess. Judge Ochoa was also in attendance, but not pictured.

Champions for CASA, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit and is the Auxiliary of the Eighth Judicial District Court’s CASA Program effective June 16, 2022.

Are you interested in becoming a CASA volunteer? Maybe you know someone who would be a terrific child advocate. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are assigned by the Judge to advocate for the best interest of a child in foster care. Free informational meetings are scheduled (virtually) four times every month.
