Abstract
In this webinar, author and former Academy of Management Journal Associate Editor Tim Pollock introduces the concept of storytelling to academic writing. He applies the five-act storytelling structure from drama, captured in Freytag’s pyramid, to the structuring your research story, with a particular focus on writing effective methods and results sections. He will briefly review the four major types of validity that the Methods and Results sections address, the tradeoffs facing all empirical research, and then discuss each section’s purpose, the challenges in writing the methods and results sections, and how to overcome them...

Abstract
The National Institutes of Health invests over $40 billion annually in research aimed at protecting and enhancing health, reducing illness and disability, and improving health system delivery. Although these topics are relevant to our science, I-O psychologists and management scholars are not well represented in NIH’s extramural grants portfolio. Drawing from 15 years of grant funding from NIH and service on numerous NIH peer review committees, Dr. Eby will discuss the basics of funding at NIH, including different grant mechanisms, review criteria, and research methods considerations. She will also provide tips for preparing successful grant applications and discuss new NIH funding priorities related to the biomedical workforce, health disparities, and social science research...

  • Improved access to CARMA live events using Zoom for faculty and students at all Premium Member schools.

  • Recordings of the lectures will be available in the Video Library for Premium and Basic Institutional Members.

  • We now offer an expanded set of Topic Interest Groups (TIG) for members. (TIGs will meet regularly, also with live, individual viewing access using Zoom Webinars and Zoom Meetings)

  • We now offer a Ph.D. Prep Group for our members. The CARMA Ph.D. Prep Group 2021-2022 is available only to students and faculty who are associated with organizations that are CARMA Institutional Premium or Basic Members.

  • We now offer an expanded set of Live and Online Short Courses for several global regions, with sessions being planned for November, January, April, May, and June. 

  • We revised the Research Methods Education Program by adding a new Ph.D. Prep Group and new digital badges.

To access the CARMA Live Events please follow the steps below:
  • Go to your User Area on the CARMA Homepage.
  • Once you login, in the middle, you will see the section “Active Meetings”.
  • There you will find the access link with the title, date, and time of the upcoming event ONE HOUR before the event under this section.
  • Click the "Join" button on the right side.

CARMA Calendar:

CARMA now offers a CARMA Calendar where you can find upcoming events with details for each one. Additionally, you can export all events into Google Calendar or ICAL Export. From the CARMA Calendar screen, you can export all events through the "+ Export Events" button at the bottom of the page, or you can click on individual events and export them on their details page through the "+ Google Calendar" or "+ ICAL Exports" buttons.
