CANTO Chairman Visits Regional ICT Minister and Regulators  
 
The CANTO Chairman Julian Wilkins visited  ICT Ministers  & Regulators in Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda and Montserrat.
The CANTO Chairman discussed a number of key ICT matters and provided the latest update on CANTO's activities including upcoming CANTO events in the region.

that over 30 Network Operators in the region have signed the Code of Practice Safeguarding the Open Internetin which Operators have pledged not to block Over-The-Top services. He went on to say that "this was a significant and historical development particularly as so many Operators in the region were in agreement with the Code of Practice."

I ntelsat Donates Intelsat EpicNG Satellite Services to Red Cross for Hurricane Relief Operations in Haiti
 
Luxembourg, 24 October 2016 -- Intelsat S.A. (NYSE: I), operator of the world's first Globalized Network, powered by its leading satellite backbone, today announced that it is donating capacity to the American Red Cross to support relief operations in Haiti following the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew.
 
The hurricane passed over the southwestern peninsula of the Caribbean nation on October 4, killing hundreds, destroying thousands of homes, and leaving an estimated 1.4 million Haitians in urgent need of humanitarian aid, according to the United Nations.

Secretary General  Visits  Curaçao

 Teresa Wankin, Secretary General of CANTO  visited Cura çao from 17th -20th October. The Secretary General met with representatives from the Government of  Cura çao ,UTS, Bureau Telecommunicatie & Post, Cura çao Chamber of Commerce, Cura çao Tourism Board and other ICT stakeholders.  She was accompanied by Lianne Diffenthaller - Assistant Admin- Operations who focused on coordinating the logistics for the 33rd AGM. The annual event will be held January 29th -31st , 2017.
