This revised Front Range Tree Recommendation List was developed through the collaborative efforts of 16 individuals each representing a different aspect of Colorado’s Green Industry. Based on the committee’s collective education, knowledge and experience, over 211 trees or varieties were evaluated and rated, resulting in a single reference list for professionals to use and share with customers or residents. The purpose of this project was to update and expand an original list creating a Front Range Tree list for use by Green Industry professionals based on decades of actual experience growing and caring for trees in our area.

The Air Quality Control Commission (AQCC) moves swiftly to act on the Small Engine Rules in 2024. These rules are of great significance to the lawn, tree and landscaping industry. The use of equipment and machinery is fundamental to these operations. It is strongly recommended that you closely monitor current legislation as these rule develop, and understand the potential impacts these may have on what practices we must follow and the type of equipment we may use in order to be compliant.

In this guide, I have located some options that I hope will be a great starting point whatever your operating needs may be. While there are still hurdles we must overcome in making this change to electric, it’s comforting to know there are options available now.

As we gather more information and speak with manufacturers and distributors we will get more information out to the members.

However, this common urban plant has inadvertently paved the way for invasive species establishment across the country.

There have been over 670 bills introduced thus far and anticipate more being introduced this week. CALCP has been working closely with GreenCO, and below are updates on some of the high-level bills we are tracking. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.

We all know that our trees and plants are dormant during the winter, and so are we when it comes to yard work. The spring list of chores can be daunting, with prepping garden beds and cleaning up the last of the winter debris. However, carving out some time in the spring to get some fertilizer to your trees should be high on your list.

As spring is about to take hold, many will be temporarily activating irrigation systems to water in preemergent applications, and or to remedy dry conditions. Unless the irrigation backflow is inside a "hotbox" or inside a heated building, overnight freeze damage is a serious possibility unless all exposed pipes backflows and fittings are properly drained after use .
