Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program

This case study is part of the Remote Adult ESOL1 (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Project led by World Education, Inc. The SBCC Noncredit ESL Program was one of eight full program profiles selected for its innovative program design and promising practices. The project’s goal is to document and disseminate viable remote adult ESOL program models and practices so that ESOL instruction can be done at scale efficiently and effectively in a variety of settings. The impetus for the project was to identify strategies for meeting the current interest and unmet demand as well as meeting potential demand prompted by English language requirements for U.S. citizenship under immigration reform. During winter and spring of 2021, the project investigated selected ESOL programs’ and learners’ needs, experiences, and promising instructional and learner support practices that rely predominantly on technology-rich strategies and tools deployed remotely.

Continuing the Conversation:

Approaches to Three-Year Plan Preparation

May 23rd, 2024 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

Given the depth and breadth of the discussions anticipated, it was clear from the onset that a single session would not suffice to cover the wealth of knowledge and insights we aim to share. Therefore, we are pleased to announce an additional Peer Learning Circle (PLC) to continue this enriching conversation. This second webinar will allow us to further explore our planning processes, ensuring that every voice is heard and every strategy is shared. We encourage all Consortium leads, directors, and co-leads to mark their calendars and join us for this continued dialogue.

Consortium Directors' Peer Learning Circle (PLC)

The Consortium Directors' Peer Learning Circles serve as a specialized forum for Consortium Leads, Co-Leads, Managers, and Directors. This platform offers a unique space to engage in discussions on challenges, queries, and distinctive scenarios frequently experienced by Consortium Leads, who often navigate the complexities of both the Community College noncredit system and the K12 system. It provides an invaluable opportunity for leads from across California to exchange ideas, find thought partners, and disseminate strategies and best practices, thereby fostering excellence throughout the state.

Please use this form to express areas of interest for future PLC's.

Directors' Corner | Discussion

The Directors' Corner serves as an online platform designed to promote the exchange of ideas and facilitate access to colleagues throughout the state. Additionally, the Canvas Course is a repository of consolidated resources for Consortium Leads/Directors. This platform aims to foster a robust networking environment, allowing for the seamless sharing of queries, resources, and insights on various scenarios among directors throughout the State.

Consortium Leads will be granted access. If you do not have access, please email tap@caladulted.org
