The Quarter 3 student data is due by April 30, 2024 in TOPSPro for K-12 CAEP adult education providers and WIOA-funded community college noncredit providers. Additionally, the employment and earnings follow-up survey is due on the same day, April 30, 2024.

Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program | |
Kern Adult School launched the Recycling Lives course to provided adult learners with the principles of recycling glass including entrepreneurship and business fundamentals in response to increased homelessness, long term unemployment, substance abuse, and previously incarcerated individuals in need of job readiness/workforce development opportunities.
A multi-agency collaborative partnership was created to infuse education and workforce development in a concerted effort to assist the hardest to serve return to living wage employment. Bakersfield Adult School (Kern High School District) partners with County of Kern, Kern Alliance for Business (a non-profit public benefit corporation serves as the non-profit arm of Employers’ Training Resource (ETR)) and Foundation for Community College.

ALRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow Overview for 2024
The ALRC seeks fellows interested in building on their existing skills to engage in hands-on research training and mentoring to improve knowledge about and outcomes for adults with low literacy. Fellows will conduct studies and publish articles in high-impact research journals in fields such as reading, adult education, psychology and applied linguistics. Fellows will corroborate on existing projects, develop independent research agendas, and build professional skills including grant-writing and dissemination at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications. ALRC fellows will be well-poised to serve in research positions at universities, nonprofit or for-profit research institutions (e.g., ABT Associates, MDRC and the American Institutes for Research), government agencies and advocacy organizations.

Applications are open for the CAEP Consortium Leadership Academy (CLA)! The intended applicant is new to their role within the last 3 years. If you believe the CLA is perfect for you, but fall outside that criteria email TAP to discuss additional options.
The application window will close June 15, 2024 and notifications will be sent out at the end of June. The CLA program was created to build the capacity of consortia leads, directors, and co-chairs to effectively lead their consortium through a student-centered leadership approach.

Join WestEd for a three-part series. You are welcome to attend one or all three of these workshops that feature the identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of accelerated learning models for adult learners. This first part of the series; Accelerated Learning Models that Align to Local Population and Workforce Needs, will introduce approaches that support accelerated learning, center adult learners and include the key decision points and considerations for a program, including creating an advisory team, a design, team, identifying and analyzing data to make decisions that can lead to ensuring that the program will serve a need in the local labor market and the adult education population, and creating an evaluation or continuous improvement process from the beginning to inform ongoing efforts and sustainability.

An evaluation process will be introduced, including identifying relevant outcomes, data points, analysis, and how to use the evaluation analysis to inform program development and stakeholders. Preparing Students for Academic, Career, and CASAS STEPS Assessment Success
Every day, teachers are faced with the two-fold challenge of equipping students with the complex skills needed for academic and career success, while simultaneously preparing them to demonstrate Measurable Skill Gains on the new CASAS STEPS assessments. In this session, we will explore how the Burlington Core standards-based curriculum and Prepare for CASAS STEPS Test Practice address these challenges. We will also discuss ways teachers can bring more rigor into their classroom to prepare students for success on CASAS STEPS tests – and in life!

The Consortium Directors Peer Learning Circles serve as a specialized forum for Consortium Leads, Co-Leads, Managers, and Directors. This platform offers a unique space to engage in discussions on challenges, queries, and distinctive scenarios frequently experienced by Consortium Leads, who often navigate the complexities of both the Community College noncredit system and the K12 system. It provides an invaluable opportunity for leads from across California to exchange ideas, find thought partners, and disseminate strategies and best practices, thereby fostering excellence throughout the state.
