National Recovery Month
September is National Recovery Month!
National Recovery Month (Recovery Month) is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life.

The 2021 National Recovery Month theme, “Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community,” reminds people in recovery and those who support them that no one is alone in the journey through recovery. Everyone's journey is different, but we are all in this together. Recovery Month will continue to educate others about substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, the effectiveness of treatment and recovery services, and that recovery is possible. All of us, from celebrities and sports figures to our co-workers, neighbors, friends, and family members, throughout our lives have experienced peaks and valleys, both big and small. But with strength, support, and hope from the people we love, we are resilient.

New Zoom Features
Zoom Apps are New!
Zoom Apps gives you the ability to install a bunch of handy little apps, widgets and plug-ins directly into zoom which is going to enhance your overall zoom experience. So for example you could add a timer in Zoom with a timer app, a customized poll app or survey app, a choice of mini-games apps and more. You can now install these apps easily at the click of a button. And in most cases, you can use the app in zoom without other participants also needing the app.

If you use breakout rooms, the timer app is a must-have! Watch this 4 minutes video to learn how to add apps to your Zoom platform.

Resources for the SUD Counselor
Rental Assistance Toolkit
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is sharing a Rental Assistance Toolkit developed by the federal government to ensure that state and local entities are aware of the many programs available to provide emergency rental assistance.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is putting out a call to action to government agencies, companies, advocates, nonprofits, the faith community, and more to make sure that renters and landlords are able to take advantage of the relief available to them. The Toolkit provides stakeholders with information about how to raise awareness about the rental assistance resources available to tenants and landlords.
Continuing Education (CEU) Requirements
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are an important component of keeping your registration or certification up-to-date.

The primary purpose of continuing education is to maintain and enhance the quality of substance abuse treatment
services provided to the public. This is best accomplished by restricting continuing education to professional
development courses that directly address the counseling and treatment of substance abuse and related disorders.

Download the CEU bulletin to ensure you are up-to-date with CADTP's requirements for CEUs.
