August 2023 • Bringing community together since 1987
More and more neighbors rely on our food program to survive; can you help?
|
A client recently told me, “Food from the [CAC] pantry has literally kept me alive for the past 6 months.”
Unfortunately, the need for food continues to rise in our community. The number of visitors at our pantries is up more than 50% over last year. I was in one of our pantries yesterday and looked around at sparse shelves and less-than-full refrigerators at the end of the day, before we restocked. Demand is high.

|
We also need your partnership. Can you lead a food drive in your neighborhood, congregation, school, business or civic club? You can find our most-needed items and information on how to run a food drive on our website.
We love to receive food items, but did you know that we can triple the value of every dollar given for food? Our partnerships let us buy food at a significant discount. Instead buying one can of vegetables, consider donating its cost in dollars, instead; we can take that same amount of money and purchase three cans.

CAC's food program works because of support from our community, including individuals like you. As we continue to meet the increased need, your contributions are critical to fulfill our mission of preventing hunger in our area.

Kids from Kairos Church give back at CAC
A small group of school-aged kids from Kairos Church recently visited CAC to help in our food pantry. They brought along over 200 pounds of food to donate, as well as several 'birthday bags' for children visiting the food pantry. This group impressed all the staff and volunteers with their hard work and comprehension of CAC's mission.
We are honored by this youth group's investment in us (their time, their efforts, and their hearts); it makes it so easy for CAC to continue investing in the community that produced such caring, generous neighbors. Thank you, Kairos!
The Coats for Kids program is right around the corner!
Help us keep over 500 kids warm this winter as we distribute brand-new coats to children in our community. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus from St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, we are able to buy several hundred coats, but we could use your help in filling the gaps for ages 0-4 as well as buying gloves and scarves. An Amazon wish list is coming soon, as well!

Volunteers are at the heart of CAC's programs
|
All of CAC's programs, from our food pantries to our ESOL classes, are made possible by the generous individuals that donate their time each month. CAC volunteers not only directly prevent hunger and homelessness in our community, they find a network of neighbors that care just as much as they do. CAC is where community is forged.
If you want to be a part of an established organization that knows how to make a difference, we're waiting for you!
