Intuitive project garners 'Deal of the Year' award | |
The Intuitive Surgical expansion project in Peachtree Corners received accolades from the Georgia Economic Developers Association on Nov. 14. Representatives from Intuitive, Gwinnett County Government, the City of Peachtree Corners, and Partnership Gwinnett received the Large Community Deal of the Year Award at the Georgia Economic Developers Association Annual Awards at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta.
The Deal of the Year Awards recognize outstanding achievement in new business expansion or relocation that have significant community support and meet economic development goals. Intuitive, a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and a pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery, previously announced their expansion at 5655 Spalding Drive, which will include $500 million capital investment and 1,200 new jobs.

ISG partners with GA Minority Supplier Dev. Council
Insight Sourcing Group (ISG), located in Peachtree Corners, recently announced a partnership with the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC), a not-for-profit organization that fosters value-driven partnerships between corporate entities and minority-owned businesses.
The GMSDC is the state of Georgia's leading advocacy organization for small business development and supplier diversity. One of its primary activities is to connect minority businesses with the supply chain, said Stacey Key, president and CEO of the council.

Lt. Governor shares insights with Chamber members
Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan spoke with members of the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber last month about authentic leadership. He spoke candidly about the 2020 Presidential Election and the divisive divide that followed. He mentioned the impact on the GOP and stressed that the election was not rigged.
"Our problems aren't going to be resolved in deep partisan corners," he said.
Duncan, who is not seeking reelection, spoke about the economy in Georgia, which he said is performing well. He noted that the state's best days lie ahead for Georgia, and that policies matter. "We need to get people ready for the next century," he said. "And it starts with education."

New UPS Store opens in Peachtree Corners
On Wednesday, November 17, members of the City Council took part in a Ribbon Cutting for the newly opened state-of-the-art Blue Horizon UPS store.
Councilmembers Weare Gratwick, Lori Christopher and Phil Sadd were on hand to congratulate Owner Ray Paracha and Operations Manager Deedee Javed on the opening in the Ingles Parking lot at 5075 Peachtree Parkway.
