Business After Hours Recognizes Legacy Businesses
Thank you to all who attended Business After Hours this past Tuesday at our office! We were pleased to honor two of Wilkinsburg's legacy businesses during our networking event, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Wilkinsburg Borough.

W.S. Radcliffe, an auto body paint shop, opened in Wilkinsburg in the 1890s! Originally selling wallpaper and phonographs, Radcliffe's has operated out of its current location at 761 Penn Ave. since 1910. The current owners, the Suski family, recently sold their business and building to artist, Jennifer Chenoweth, who will continue operating the shop as Radcliffe's Local Color. Jennifer is currently collecting feedback from customers and other locals. Share your ideas for the store as it transitions to its next phase!

Upbeat Records, a music store, opened on Wood Street in Wilkinsburg in 1994, eventually moving to its current location at the corner of Penn and Center. Owner Matt Lemon is retiring from the business and transitioning to a new sales venture. Over his 24 years in business, Matt supplied CDs, DVDs, vinyl, incense, magazines and more. The shop may reopen under new ownership, so stay tuned!

Mayor Garrett presented both businesses with proclamations, naming January 23, 2018 Radcliffe Day and January 24, 2018 Upbeat Records Day in Wilkinsburg Borough. Many thanks to these legacy businesses for their contributions to the Wilkinsburg community!
