Message from Vice President / CFO Casey Wyman

Hello colleagues,

As I walked through campus this week, I found myself surrounded by students (and their families) getting ready to embark on their college journey. The excitement was palpable. It made me reflect on the role Business Affairs teams play in this important milestone for students. From completing building repairs, enhancing safety measures, facilitating student payments, and everything in-between, your efforts are paving the way for these students to have a great start. Thank you for all you’ve done to prepare for another incredible semester.

There is a lot happening on campus this fall and plenty of opportunities to learn what’s new.

Campus leadership will host an All Hands meeting on Sept.10. Faculty and staff are invited to attend in-person or virtually, as we discuss our shared priorities for the upcoming academic year. Watch UNLV Today for more information.

On Sept. 30, we will host an in-person Business Affairs All-Staff meeting, where we’ll be joined by guests from Human Resources and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. They will share updates on their initiatives, including a new wellness program. We’ll also get a sneak peek at our finalized climate action plan - the Rebel CAP - before its official launch on Sept. 13. It’ll be a fun and engaging time and there will be prizes. We’ll host a separate night meeting for those who work in the evening.

I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to hear more about what’s happening across campus and within our division.

For the sports fans, the fall also means the start of many athletic seasons. Attending a game is a great way to stay connected to the mission and show our Rebel pride.

Thank you again for all you do and have a great fall semester!

We are excited to invite faculty, staff, students, and alumni to attend the launch of UNLV’s Rebel CAP (Climate Action Plan) on Friday, Sept. 13 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Participants may join in person at the Marietta Tiberti Grand Hall at the Richard Tam Alumni Center (TAC) or virtually via Zoom.

Attendees will hear remarks from campus leadership and regional sustainability champions, learn about highlights from the finalized plan, and participate in a panel discussion with UNLV faculty. Food will be served and the first 50 in-person guests will receive Rebel CAP promotional items.

RSVP to Attend

The finalized plan provides UNLV with a roadmap for climate-resilient operations and academics. The planning process was led by UNLV’s Sustainability Advisory Council that includes Business Affairs’ Associate Vice President of Facilities Management Musa Pam, Recycling Manager and Campus Sustainability Coordinator Tara Pike, and Community Garden Coordinator Andie Davis in partnership with consultants from Brailsford & Dunlavey.

Congratulations to the entire team on this milestone. Their hard work will help us build a more sustainable future at UNLV.

Spotlight on Service

Our new carpet doesn't show as dramatic results as our old carpet, but we at the Teacher Development Resources Library (TDRL) are very pleased with the prompt response to our request for carpet cleaning (we know you are getting slammed right now with all the fall semester prep work) and the excellent work done by Xinia Carver and her team in the William D. Carlson Education Building (CEB). Our patrons regularly comment on how clean, nice, and inviting our spaces are. Please commend Xinia and her team for the role they play in making people feel welcomed at the TDRL. On behalf of Team TDRL, thank you!” - TDRL staff
