Summer is in full swing, and the temperature is soaring. While the sun blazes outside, I want to show you some cool tricks in Ravelry! If you're like us, you've got a plethora of patterns saved (I have 653). Scrolling through them can sometimes feel as endless as these hot summer days. Fear not! We're here to help you organize your favorite patterns into neat little bundles, making it easy to find exactly what you're looking for, no matter the project.
Step-by-Step: How to Create a Bundle in Ravelry
-
Log in to Your Ravelry Account: First things first, head over to Ravelry and log into your account. If you don't have one yet, now's the perfect time to join this fantastic community of yarn lovers!
-
Navigate to Your Favorites: Once you're logged in, click on "My Notebook" at the top right corner of the screen and select "Favorites" from the dropdown menu. This will take you to a page where all your saved patterns reside.
-
Create a New Bundle: Look for the "Bundles" tab on the right-hand side of your favorites page. Click it. You are now in a blank Bundles section. Select "Add A Bundle" and name your new bundle. Choose a name that reflects the types of patterns you'll be grouping together, like "Summer Knits," "Winter Warmers," or "Gift Ideas."
-
Add Patterns to Your Bundle: Now that your bundle is created, you can start adding patterns to it. Go back to your Favorites list, and under each pattern, you'll see a little heart icon with the option to "Add to Bundle." Click this, select the appropriate bundle, and voila! Your pattern is neatly organized.

Saving a Pattern to a Bundle
Found a new pattern you love and want to save it directly to a bundle? Easy peasy!
-
Find the Pattern: Search for the pattern you love on Ravelry.
-
Save to Favorites: Click the "Save in Favorites" button, which is represented by a little heart icon.
-
Add to Bundle: A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to add this pattern directly to one or more of your existing bundles or create a new one on the fly.

Advanced Searching Within Bundles
Once you've got your bundles set up, finding the perfect pattern becomes a breeze, especially with Ravelry's advanced search feature.
-
Use the Search Bar: While viewing a bundle, use the search bar at the top to enter keywords. This is especially useful if you remember part of a pattern’s name or a designer's name.
-
Apply Filters: On the left-hand side, you'll find an advanced filters button. This will allow you to apply search criteria such as project type (sweater, hat, scarf), yarn weight, and difficulty level. These filters help narrow down your choices even further, ensuring you find exactly what you need.
-
Sort Your Results: Sort your patterns by date added, name, or even project popularity to see which ones other knitters and crocheters are loving.

My Top 3 "Hot Right Now" Favorites in Ravelry
It might seem daunting at first, but organizing your Ravelry Favorites now will lead to easy and fun project browsing later. I created a quick advanced search of my favorite patterns, using the "Hot Right Now" feature. I further narrowed my results by selecting all free patterns using DK or fingering weight yarn. My results did not disappoint!
Hermione's Everyday Socks
by Erica Lueder
Hermione, as described in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series, is a rather smart and practical heroine. While she can dress up with the best of them, these socks remind me of something she might wear while practicing charms or transfiguration or reading up on Arithromancy in the Gryffindor Common Room.
This sock is knit from the cuff down and features a garter stitch edged slip stitch heel. The pattern itself is written for one size, but with a 4 stitch pattern repeat, it is easily customizable to fit whatever size one desires.
Yarn Suggestion: Laines du Nord Watercolor Sock

Perfect Summer Poncho
by Melissa Fisher
The Perfect Summer Poncho will be your new summer favorite. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy this pattern is! It’s crocheted in two rectangles, with a few quick and easy seams, and that’s it! It’s a great beginner project for your first garment. This pattern works up quickly with mindless repeats and simple stitches, with some easy modifications to keep things interesting.
This poncho is comfy, breathable, and lightweight.
Yarn Suggestion: Juniper Moon Zooey

Stormy Sky Shawl
by Ksenia Naidyon
Stormy Sky is a lightweight, asymmetrical shawl, it’s dynamic and modern. Knitted from the corner in a shape of a skewed triangle, it makes a great and fast project for that one very special skein of yarn. Alternation of sections creates nice texture and is rather easy to memorize. Tassels can be added to make corners look more polished.
This pattern can be used as a base for experiments, as neither yarn weight nor gauge is critical. The number of section repeats can be adjusted as well, depending on the desired size of the finished shawl.
Yarn Suggestion: Ancient Arts Little Nettle Soft
Get the Ravelry pattern here: Stormy Sky Shawl
A crochet version of this shawl is now available here. It’s also free!
