Dear friends,
This month we are thinking about Hurricane Season. What have we learned, and how can we prepare?
We are grateful to Chief Ed McCrane of Sarasota County Emergency Management for his recent visit to speak with the campus about lessons learned from Hurricane Ian. After last season, we have all emerged more wary and more determined to be prepared for the future.
Did you know that Sarasota County has been granted $201M in funding for recovery from Hurricane Ian in an initiative called Resilient SRQ? If you are a resident of Sarasota County, I encourage you to take part in one of the three public meetings the county will hold this month to help decide how those funds will be used. Additionally, if you represent a community organization, there is an Unmet Needs Survey for Community Organizations. These funds will be instrumental in our region's recovery.
A disaster puts a community to the test. I am proud to be part of this community, made up of courageous individuals and steadfast networks. We share a common interest in the best outcomes and we will achieve it through collaboration and engagement.
Happy reading!
