Building New Lives: Projects in Progress

We continue to progress on our major construction projects to increase capacity at four metro Atlanta nonprofits serving veterans, women overcoming addiction, teens escaping trafficking, and teens in foster care.

VEO - Veterans Empowerment Organization

Lennar is leading renovations at VEO, shown on-site here with project partners in June. When complete, this project will provide nine units of affordable housing for veterans. Drywall and insulation installation, interior primer application, and removal of old decking is complete, with work to begin on new decking and cabinets next week. The completion date is tentatively set for early October.

Breakthru House

Two new homes will add 24 beds for women and mothers overcoming addiction with Builder Captain Taylor Morrison. This project is in the final phases of permitting.

Gigi's House

Roofing, rough plumbing, and HVAC are complete. Drywall begins this week.

When complete, this supportive services building at Gigi's House will provide space for 20 girls escaping sex trafficking to go to school, meet with counselors, and more. Meritage Homes leads work on this project.

North Georgia Angel House

New family visitation center for foster youth led by Bulder Captain Taylor Morrison. Demolition on the existing structure will begin soon.

New Project Possibilities

HomeAid is partnering with Paran Homes and Evans General Contractors to explore the possibility of building a new 10,000 sq. foot facility at Peace Place in Jackson County. The home would provide emergency and transitional shelter with 32 beds for women and children fleeing domestic violence. This project is outside of HomeAid's normal nine-county metro Atlanta service area, but we are working on changing that! Stay tuned.
