Message from the Principal |
Dear Families,
We had a lot of exciting learning experiences happening this week at Fairmount and Bryden. In Kindergarten, our students are learning about making connections to text during Readers' Workshop. Text-to-self connections are highly personal connections that a reader makes between a piece of reading material and the reader’s own experiences or life. An example of a text-to-self connection might be, “This story reminds me of a vacation I took to the ocean, just like the main character.” It’s amazing to hear all the connections the students are starting to make in their own books, or books that are being read aloud to them!
We encourage you to extend this learning beyond the classroom by relating stories you read at home to personal experiences. This could be as simple as asking, "Does this story remind you of anything we've done?" or "Have you ever felt like a character in your book?" These interactions deepen your child's reading comprehension and strengthen your bond through shared experiences.
Today, our Fairmount students participated in ice cream friendship parties. Classes combined together to celebrate friendship and being H.E.A.R.D. Students continue to learn and model our expectations of being honorable, encouraging, accountable, respectful, and determined. Scroll down to see photos of our parties!
Sincerely,
Ms. Arianna DeGeorge
Bryden/Fairmount Principal

Missing Something? Please Check Bryden's Lost and Found
We know there are times when your child may leave a specific item of clothing around the school, which is then placed in the lost and found. In an effort to minimize the amount of items stored in the lost and found, we have reorganized the area to help students and families better see what is left behind. Please view the lost and found slides and visit the lost and found in the Bryden main lobby if you see one of your child’s articles.
