Message from the Principal

Arianna DeGeorge

Dear Families,

As we embark on another week of learning and growth, our second-grade students have been growing their knowledge around nonfiction reading and writing. Students are learning how to become experts by paying attention to details, thinking “what is this book teaching me?” and understanding and using key words. As part of the recognition of Black History Month and Presidents Day, students are choosing to study around a famous African American or U.S. president and will write a biography bit on their learning.

We know there are times when your child may leave a specific item of clothing around the school, which is then placed in the lost and found. In an effort to minimize the amount of items stored in the lost and found, we have reorganized the area to help students and families better see what is left behind. Please view the lost and found slides and visit the lost and found in the Bryden main lobby if you see one of your child’s articles.

Last Thursday, Bryden students participated in their Friendship Parties. Thank you so much to Ashley Lanphear and all of our PTO volunteers for hosting such fun parties! We had a wonderful time celebrating the importance of friendships! Scroll down to see photos from this exciting event.

Sincerely,

Ms. Arianna DeGeorge

Bryden/Fairmount Principal

Classroom Spotlight: Miss Rubenstein’s Kindergarten Classroom

We are not sure how it happened so fast, but kindergarten celebrated the 100th day of school on February 2. As always, "Granny Rubenstein" came in to spend the morning with us. Our 100th day celebration started by playing with (then popping) 100 balloons! After that we enjoyed working in different centers and celebrating the number 100, our first triple digit number! We counted groups of ten manipulatives with partners to make sets of 100, counted by fives to make a yummy 100 snack mix, strung 100 beads to make a special necklace celebration necklace, and created artwork with the three digits of 100 hiding in it. We will be continuing 100 centers throughout the month to solidify the concept of different ways to make 100.
