Message from the Principal |
Dear Families,
I hope you were able to log into Infinite Campus last week to view your child’s report card. If not, please make sure you visit the parent portal to get up-to-date information about your child’s progress at school.
As we enter the month of February, we are excited to introduce our new Be H.E.A.R.D. expectation: Be Respectful. This initiative is a key component of our district-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports program. Be H.E.A.R.D. stands for Be Honorable, Encouraging, Accountable, Respectful, Determined. Students will learn what it means and looks like to respect ourselves, our school, and one another. Our goal is for students to be able to answer essential questions such as: What does respect mean? How can we be respectful in the classroom? What can we say or do to be respectful? We will also have big conversations around what it looks like to respect one another's thoughts and ideas and model what it looks like to listen attentively to one another without interrupting.
In addition, I am pleased to announce that kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year will begin on Monday, February 5. For detailed information on the registration process, please refer to the announcement below.
Sincerely,
Ms. Arianna DeGeorge
Bryden/Fairmount Principal

Beachwood Neurodiversity Family Network Hosts Family/Caregiver Support Group
Join the Beachwood Neurodiversity Family Network for a support group discussion on Sunday, February 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Beachwood High School Community Room. We will go around and share our recent “highs” and “lows” as well as anything else you would like to talk about. All are welcome, whether or not you identify as a neurodivergent family. Due to the sensitivity of the topics that may be discussed, as well as privacy concerns, this meeting is intended for adults only. However, if you do not have childcare, or are otherwise unable to attend in person, we are hoping to offer the option to call in virtually. Please indicate if you would like the virtual option on the RSVP form.

Classroom Spotlight: Mr. Starzyk’s Bin Herders
As part of our new Be H.E.A.R.D. roll out, Mr. Starzyk has created a Bison Bin Herders group. Each week, teachers nominate two students per grade level to be a Bin Herder. These students are responsible for managing the equipment during their recess time. Before each recess, students walk down to Mr. Starzyk’s office and grab their grade level bin. Together, the students carry their bin outside so students have a variety of equipment such as soccer balls, basketballs, and footballs to play with. At the end of each recess, they are responsible for collecting all of the items and taking inventory to ensure all items have been returned safely. Students then carry the bins back to Mr. Starzyk’s office before going to lunch.
Every Monday morning, students who are nominated for being Bin Herders have their name called on the announcements. They join together in the Bin Herders Bungalow to review their roles and responsibilities for the week. It is exciting to see the sense of ownership our students take in this role, and the pride they feel for being nominated by their teacher to take on this task.

Kindergarten 100th Day of School
Today is the 100th day of school for kindergarten! We have been keeping track of how many days we have been in school as part of our mathematics program. This is an exciting day that the children have been anticipating for quite some time now. Students completed projects by collecting 100 items of their choosing and shared them with their class. We even had a few students dress like they were 100 years old!
