Message from the Principal

Arianna DeGeorge

Dear Families,

As we close out this frigid week, we also come to the end of our second quarter. At Bryden, grades will be posted for families to view on Friday, January 26. We encourage you to log into your parent portal account in Infinite Campus to access these scores. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions.

As we enter the third quarter on Monday, we also look forward to starting our new Spanish language class at Bryden. I want to thank Ms. Ai-Lan Lin for creating an engaging Chinese language class for our students this first semester. We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Dolores Beccar as she leads our K-2 Spanish class for the second semester.

Thank you to all the families who registered for preschool this week at Fairmount Early Childhood Center. The application process is now open for residents. In a few weeks we will open up kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year as well. Stay tuned for more information in our future newsletters!

Sincerely,

Ms. Arianna DeGeorge

News & Highlights

Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Romanoff and Mrs. Forte’s Math Class

The halls of Bryden are lively with students engaging in thoughtful discussions, writing creative stories, and solving mathematical inquiries. In our math classrooms, Diana Romanoff and Emily Forte are helping students gain a deeper understanding of mathematical equations and algorithms through game-based, hands-on learning. It is common to find students partnering up to play an addition or subtraction-based game or utilizing a multisensory approach to practice counting and place value. We believe that children learn by doing, so our students are actively involved in hands-on, practical activities that utilize manipulatives to enhance their understanding of mathematical concepts. The goal is not memorization but rather to foster a deeper appreciation for math, improve problem-solving skills, and create a foundation for lifelong mathematical proficiency.
