Dr. Jonathan Reichental is a multiple-award-winning technology and business leader whose career has spanned both the private and public sectors. He’s been a senior software engineering manager, a director of technology innovation, and has served as chief information officer at both O’Reilly Media and the City of Palo Alto, California. Reichental is currently the founder of advisory, investment, and education firm, Human Future, and also creates online education for LinkedIn Learning. He has written three books on the future of cities: Smart Cities for Dummies, Exploring Smart Cities Activity Book for Kids, and Exploring Cities Bedtime Rhymes.

Now Available: 

Brownfields Job Training Grant Funding


On June 1, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that approximately $12 million in funding for environmental job training grants is now available under the Fiscal Year 2023 Brownfields Job Training Program. EPA anticipates awarding approximately 25 grants nationwide at amounts up to $500,000 per award. Applications are due by August 2, 2022, via grants.gov.

2022 Environmental Justice Caucus


An important component of the National Brownfields Training Conference is the Environmental Justice Caucus. The Caucus is a locally driven event where people and organizations involved in Environmental Justice convene, share ideas, build relationships, and communicate directly with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).


The EJ Caucus is a pre-conference event. This year’s Environmental Justice Caucus for Brownfields 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is being held:
