Brownback/Colyer Inaugural Committee Announces Ticket Information

Inaugural to include launch of statewide community service project

TOPEKA--The Brownback/Colyer Inaugural Committee announced today the details for obtaining tickets for the 2011 Kansas Inaugural. The inaugural events will begin on January 7th and conclude on January 10th, Inauguration Day at the Statehouse.

"Those interested in participating in the dinner and ball or the VIP reception on January 8th will need to purchase tickets from the committee. There will be no charge to attend Sunday's Inaugural Prayer Service, but because space is limited, tickets are necessary," said Committee Member Pat George.

George said Kansans may order tickets through the Inaugural Committee by filling out the order form at www.BrownbackInaugural.com or by calling the office at 785.246.6322.

There are four ticket options available:

  • $2,000 - Sponsorship: eight dinner tickets with preferred view seating, two VIP reception tickets, and sponsor designation signage
  • $500 - one dinner ticket with preferred view seating, one VIP reception ticket,
  • $250 - one dinner ticket with preferred view seating
  • $125 - one dinner ticket with limited view seating

At the prayer service on Sunday, Governor-Elect Sam Brownback and Lt. Governor-Elect Jeff Colyer, M.D. are encouraging attendees to bring non-perishable food items to support needy Kansas families during the winter season.

"As a hallmark of our new administration and commitment to improve our state, we are launching the Heart of Kansas Project, a program dedicated to getting Kansans involved in community service organizations in their respective communities," Gov.-Elect Brownback said. "The food drive is just one opportunity for Kansans to help Kansans. With so many going without during these difficult economic times, Jeff and I believe this is the right thing to do; and that with Kansans help, we can make a difference."

As part of the project's launching, Brownback and Colyer will take part in three more community service events during inaugural week: a blood drive in Hays; repackageing medical supplies in Pittsburg; and packing backpacks with food for Kansas kids in Wichita.

"To promote local volunteer opportunities, we hope Kansans will tell us about one or two existing community service programs in their county that reflect the philosophy and goals of our Road Map for Kansas," Brownback said.

You can submit local projects or programs for placement consideration on our "Heart of Kansas Project" page at www.BrownbackInaugural.com.
