Brookwood Welcomes a New Addition, Thanks to Glesby Marks!
We are thrilled to announce an incredible gift from Glesby Marks, a leading fleet leasing company. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of owner Gary Glesby and his dedicated team, Brookwood Community has received a custom-designed Ford Super Duty F-250 truck to support our Maintenance Department. This amazing contribution will help ensure the safety and upkeep of our campus, directly benefiting our Citizens.
The journey to this generous donation began at the Brookwood Benefit Lunch in April, where Steve Stephens of Amegy Bank introduced Gary Glesby and representatives from Glesby Marks to our mission. Inspired by what they learned, they chose Brookwood as the recipient of their annual vehicle donation.
The truck was delivered on August 1, and CEO/President Emily Rauch Stoller proudly handed the keys to our Maintenance Department. This specialized vehicle is equipped with everything our team needs to maintain our beautiful campus and provide a safe environment for everyone.
The delivery day was a celebration of gratitude and community spirit. Our Horticulture Citizens warmly welcomed the 18 representatives from Glesby Marks with signs, pom-poms, and heartfelt chants of "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!" The Glesby Marks team toured our campus, met Citizens working in their various design studios, and enjoyed a delicious meal at The Brookwood Cafe.
We are deeply grateful to our friends at Amegy Bank for continuously introducing new supporters to Brookwood and helping us forge meaningful connections. The generosity of Glesby Marks exemplifies how collaborative efforts can make a significant difference in changing the way the world thinks about adults with disabilities.

Join Us for Bike to Brookwood: An Epic Journey of Empowerment and Inclusion!
We are excited to announce that the 2024 Bike to Brookwood event is set to be an extraordinary celebration of perseverance, community, and support for adults with disabilities. This unique event offers our Citizens the opportunity to complete an epic bike ride for which they have trained all year, showcasing their determination and capabilities.
This year's ride will take place right here at Brookwood, allowing more Citizens to participate and enabling more families and friends to cheer them on. Bike to Brookwood is not just a ride; it's a testament to the spirit and strength of our community.
Over 60 Citizens will embark on rides ranging from 5-10 miles, 15 miles, and even 20-25 miles, all to raise funds for Brookwood. The proceeds will support the "I Believe in Brookwood" fund, which helps us continue our mission of changing the way the world thinks about adults with disabilities. Our goal is to raise $60,000, and we need your help to achieve it!
Ways You Can Help:
-
Be a CORPORATE PARTNER – Join us with your group to ride alongside our Citizens and provide essential snack station support during the rides on October 5, 12, and 19.
-
Be a RIDER OR CHEER TEAM SPONSOR – Make a donation in honor of a Rider or the Brookwood Cheer Team to help us reach our $60,000 fundraising goal. Donors who contribute $1,000 or more will have their names featured on Bike to Brookwood shirts.
-
Be a VOLUNTEER – Assist on the day of the ride by helping out at snack and water stations, ensuring our riders stay fueled and hydrated.
Why We Ride: Did you know that 13% of our population lives with a disABILITY? Sadly, only 15% of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are employed. At Brookwood, we recognize the immense potential in every individual and are committed to showcasing the incredible abilities of our Citizens. Through initiatives like Bike to Brookwood, we aim to inspire families, partners, and the community by demonstrating what Brookwood Citizens can achieve.
We invite you to join us on this journey! Your support can help us break down barriers and create a world where everyone is valued for their unique contributions. Please consider donating to support our mission and empower Brookwood Citizens to reach new heights!

WHY VOLUNTEER?
Discover the joy of volunteering at Brookwood, just like our friends from Skyline Development! This past weekend, Skyline Development brought snowcones, games, and more, creating a day filled with smiles and laughter.
"Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces and spending time with such an incredible group was very special to us. We now have a deeper appreciation for who we work with and who we are building for. We are grateful for the opportunity and would love to do it again sometime!" said Joseph Fried, President of Skyline Development.
Volunteering at Brookwood is not only rewarding but also incredibly fun! Are you ready to join us and experience it firsthand?
