Academic Dates & Deadlines

September 1: Deadline to pay Orientation fee for incoming students. Here's a how-to video on paying fees.


September 4: Labor Day. Classes will not be in session, and offices/departments will be closed and offline.


Through September 7: Fall 2023 Add/Drop Period. This is an optional registration window where you can adjust your schedule. You can add courses up to 18 units, or drop courses without receiving a W on your transcript.

 

September 8: Deadline to pay any Fall 2023 fee balance for students receiving financial aid. Your aid should disburse approximately 10 days before the first day of the term to pay your balance, as long as you are enrolled in the minimum units required for a full disbursement of the aid you receive. If you get there during Add/Drop Period, your financial aid will disburse in 24 hours. Contact Financial Aid & Scholarships or the Bronco Advising Center if you have any questions.


September 11: Deadline to opt out of Instant Access Complete e-textbooks for Fall 2023. All students have been automatically opted-in to receive Instant Access for the semester. The cost of your materials will be charged to your CPP student account as a Books charge. You must proactively opt-out of the program by the deadline if you do not wish to use the materials. After the deadline, the charges on your account will be final and failure to pay will result in an account hold. Find more info on the Instant Access Complete website.

Announcements

Get your Eduroam WiFi set up. If you haven't set up your campus WiFi yet, now's the perfect time: you can set it up wherever you have an internet connection. Use the setup wizard to get started.


Get a mentor or become a mentor through Bronco Navigators. The free peer mentorship enhances the college experience by linking students one-on-one with a peer mentor. As a mentee you'll learn what to expect at CPP, how to approach challenges and gain career advice. As a mentor, you'll help other students set and achieve goals and learn valuable leadership skills. Students are matched based on similar background, interests and goals. Once you are matched, you'll both decide how you would like to communicate: either in-person, via email, text, phone or through a video call. To get started, visit the Bronco Navigators website and complete a short survey telling us about yourself.


Beware of phishing scams. Higher education is a frequent target of phishing attempts such as job and internship offers and requests for personal account information. Exercise diligence in preventing phishing attempts. Always verify the source before you click or respond. Visit the CPP IT website for more ways to keep your personal information safe.


Start a new club on campus. Students interested in starting a new club on campus can attend a New Club Workshop on September 7, 12 or 19. Details and access to these events are listed on the Student Engagement, Leadership and Success website.


Sign up for a pop-up course for Fall 2023. Learn how to confront misinformation, conspiracy theories and polarization in CPU 1540. The class is taught by a multidisciplinary teaching team and counts for GE Area E. Search for CPU 1540 on BroncoDirect. Find more info on the Innovation Incubator website.


Join the CPP University Bands. Were you involved in band at your high school or community college and want the opportunity to keep playing your instrument at CPP? Join us! The CPP Bands offer two concert band courses: MU 3530L Wind Ensemble & MU 3520L Symphonic Winds. Both bands are open to all majors and campus members. Check out the CPP Bands website for more information.


Register to attend the CPP Fall Career Fair. Employers will be offering full-time employment, part-time employment and internship opportunities across all majors. You'll have the opportunity to meet with a wider range of employers, some of whom may not typically attend an all-day on-site event. The Career Fair will be on Thursday, September 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University Quad. All current CPP students are welcome to attend the event. Learn more and register here.


Register for the STEM Career Fair. The fair is on September 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University Quad. the event will feature employers looking to recruit students from STEM majors. You'll have the opportunity to meet and connect with a wide range of employers in the STEM industry. Learn more and register on the Career Center website.


Participate in Welcome Week at the University Library. Welcome Back, Broncos! The library has a variety of programming for incoming and returning students in a series of events called "Welcome Week." Stop by the library and pet cute dogs in “Therapy Dogs,” learn about eating healthy while not breaking the bank in “Healthy Eating on a Budget Workshop,” learn about library services, resources, spaces, and programming to make the library yours in “Learn about YOUR Library,” and participate in a fun scavenger hunt in “Hunt at the Library.” For more information visit the University Library website.


University Library Elevator and Escalator Repairs. The two public elevators next to the 2nd Floor Circulation Desk are undergoing repairs that will take 6-8 weeks. The library escalator is undergoing repairs and should take a few weeks to complete. If you are able, consider using the stairs when going up or down a floor or two. August 31: Outdoor Climbing Skills. Drop into these weekly lessons teaching the skills to prepare rock climbers for outdoor climbing. These lessons will cover gear preparation, trip planning, crash pad use, anchor building and more. All equipment will be provided. Registration opens 1 week prior to each class. Walk ups are welcome. August 31: Streamline Your First Semester. Learn about the resources on campus that can help ease the transition into your semester this year. Board members from the Latin Alumni Network will host a workshop where they will provide tips from their own experiences to help streamline your semester and college life altogether. The workshop is from noon to 1 p.m. at the Bronco Student Center in Ursa Minor. Check the details and register on Eventbrite.


September 1: Rappelling Introduction. Ready to CLIMB your way to the top? This introductory workshop teaches the steps to properly set up a rappel as a secure means of descent. All are welcome, but completion of Bronco Peak Top Rope Assessment, Blue Belt is required. The workshop is from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bronco Peak. Check the details and register on the ASI Portal.


September 1: Mermaid Tail Fitness. Take the opportunity to swim like a mermaid at Mermaid Fitness Workout! Swimmers of all levels are welcome to join the aquatic fitness course. Monofin-mermaid tails are available and optional to wear for the duration of the course. Registration opens 24 hours prior the start of each class. The mermaid classes begin on September 1 from noon to 1 p.m. at the BRIC Pool. Check the details and register on the ASI Portal.


September 5: Lead Climbing. Are you ready to level up your indoor climbing game? Join our workshop, where you'll learn the art of lead belaying and climbing. Gain valuable insights on preventing clipping errors, handling lead falls, and mastering essential risk management techniques. Completion of Bronco Peak Top Rope Assessment, Blue Belt is required. September 5: Life After Graduation Series. Having trouble choosing which career pathway to go down? Join us while we host four speakers who are CPP faculty or practicing in the field. September 7: Wilderness Survival. Learn how to survive in the wilderness with limited supplies and unleash your inner adventurer in this two-hour workshop. Topics will include: tarp-itecture, fire starting, primitive navigation, and more. The workshop is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Darlene May Lawn. Check the details and register on the ASI Portal.


September 8: BRIC Open House. Join Campus Recreation for a day to sample what the BRIC offers! Four events, one day, endless opportunities to meet new friends and explore the different aspects of the BRIC. The open house is from 1 to 10 p.m. at the BRIC.


September 8: BRIC Open House: Fall Into Fitness. Stop by the BRIC Lobby from 1 to 4 p.m. and meet your fitness team that will help you get closer to your health/wellness goals for the new year. Participants can have a 30-minute session with a personal trainer, earn giveaways, take a tour of our spaces and meet our campus partners that will support you in your holistic health needs. September 8: BRIC Open House: Opening Day, 3-point shoot out. Think you can shoot like Steph Curry?! Give it your best shot! Compete at our 3-point shootout to see who the ultimate champion is. The winner will receive a $25 Bronco Bucks gift card, plus you'll meet your future teammates or competitors for our upcoming IM teams. The event is from 3 to 6 p.m. in the BRIC courts. September 8: BRIC Open House: Fall Kickoff Pool Party. Start off your fall semester with a splash. Join us as we kick off the fall semester at the BRIC pool from 4 to 8 p.m. Join us for some tasty food, music, and participate in some of our water and lawn games. September 8: BRIC Open House: New Climber Night. Join us for a beginner-friendly climbing event, perfect for building your confidence to climb the 51- foot-tall, Bronco Peak. Meet fellow Broncos and become familiar with the CPP climbing community. September 11: Volunteer at the 9/11 Day Service Event. Join the Center for Community Engagement from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center for the 9/11 Bronco Stampede of Service event. Let's commemorate the 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance by coming together to create Disaster Readiness kits for our community. Your presence can make a meaningful impact. September 13: Top Rope Anchors Introduction. Get ready to rock the outdoor climbing scene with master skills. Learn the ropes on when to anchor, discover common anchor styles, and become an expert in evaluating your strength. The workshop is from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bronco Peak. September 12: Speed Mentoring. Join us as we connect Alumni and Students for a day of networking. Alumni will provide mentoring to students in speed rounds that focus on topics like college to career transition, industry related questions, job search strategies, etiquette and more. The benefits of finding a mentor or practicing your networking skills can make all the difference in your professional career. These are the opportunities that can help you make valuable connections and improve your self-marketing tools. The event is from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Bronco Student Center in Ursa Major. September 13: Discover Scuba Diving. Have you ever wanted to try SCUBA, but without the commitments? For only $10, you can try it out and see if scuba diving is for you.
