A Message from Principal Dumar

Bradfield Families,

What better way to kick off Reading Rodeo than a surprise Concert on the Front Lawn. Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series doesn’t have anything on Bradfield. Broncos of all ages had the best time as they danced and sang to the Taylor Swift Cover Band on Wednesday morning.

Thank you to our Reading Rodeo Chairs, Susannah Bame, Aubrey Labanowski, and Kendra Allen for encouraging our students to be Reading Rockstars as well as raising the much needed funds for Bradfield. Reminder that all minutes and pledges must be logged by 10:00 PM on Wednesday, September 27.

Parents, let’s all do our part to help keep our students, staff and families safe at Bradfield. As you know, the State Safety Audits will continue this year. This is just one more way we know our campus is as safe as possible. Please see a couple of ways you can help keep everyone safe!

  • All staff members, volunteers and/or visitors must wear a badge while they are in the building. If a staff member sees an adult in the building without a badge, they must escort the adult to the office in order to check in through our security system and receive/wear a badge while on campus. Parents, I ask that you help by following the same procedure.
  • Please do not open an exterior door for anyone. I teach the students not to open the door even if it’s for me. Parents, I ask that you not allow anyone in an exterior door, not even your best friend. All visitors/volunteers must enter through the front doors.
  • All exterior doors must be kept closed and not propped open. If you happen to see a door propped open, please close it immediately and call the front office to let us know.

Mark your calendars! An unexpected outcome of the most recent legislative session is an election on November 7. In recent years, HPISD has not held classes on Election Day. As such, we are making a change to the academic calendar and canceling school on Tuesday, November 7 for students and staff. Students and staff will NOT make-up the day, as the District calendar has the required number of minutes for instruction.

I encourage you to check out this week’s Broncoland photos.

I look forward to seeing you and your children at the front door!

READING RODEO

Only 3 Days Left to Read & Pledge!

Thank you to everyone who has created a PledgeStar account, read and logged minutes, or made a pledge or donation in support of our awesome Bronco Readers! We have raised $92,928 and are well on our way to achieving our $115,000 fundraising goal thanks to the amazing generosity of our our parents, families and friends.

All minutes and pledges must be logged by 10 pm on Wednesday, September 27. Minutes read in school and at home must be entered on your personal fundraising page at pledgestar.com/bradfield. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept handwritten minute logs. We will reveal the top readers and winning classes at a donut breakfast (students only) on Friday, September 29.

A Message from our PTA President, Laura McCallan

What an exciting week at Bradfield! Our first FUNdraising event of the year kicked off on Wednesday with an epic performance by none other than "Taylor Swift!" I hope everybody enjoyed the concert and was inspired to READ READ READ!

Thank you to our Reading Rodeo Chairs, who truly outdid themselves this year: Susannah Bame, Aubrey Labanowski, & Kendra Allen. Also, thanks to Blaze and the Dads Club for always supporting the PTA and helping us to make our visions a reality. Reading Rodeo wraps up on Wednesday the 27th with our awards ceremony (students only) on Friday the 29th. Remember, every dollar raised during Reading Rodeo directly supports Bradfield!

I’d also like to thank Laura Riise & Lauren Macatee for hosting a successful Supply Shop Volunteer training on Wednesday. We are so excited for our Supply Shop to open on October 3rd.

Go Broncos!

Laura McCallan

Turns out our Broncos LOVE soft serve! We have been given the green light to expand the offering IF we can get just 3 people to each sign up for one repeating Friday shift. This person will work together with the ice cream cashier (who is already signed up) to serve SOFT SERVE.

2nd, 3rd & 4th Fridays are now open starting in October! Who's ready to give it a “swirl”?!?
