A Message from Principal Dumar

Hello Bradfield Families,

Monday, September 11th, Bradfield proudly participated in National Remembrance and Service  Day. The Bradfield Scouts lead the school community in the pledge of allegiance as we honored our First Responders of HPISD and HPPD. Thank you to those who joined us on this memorable day. Bradfield will never forget.

We are especially thankful for our First Responders that help our Broncos and are making a difference in their daily lives. Thank you, Officer Connel and Lt. Koppa for going above and beyond to build lasting relationships and being a positive role model in our community!

Bradfield families made a great showing at the School Board meeting Tuesday night. The meeting began with a group of Broncos who exemplify what it means to be a leader. Thank you, Richard, Emilie, James and Lydia for leading the meeting in the pledge of allegiance. I am proud of their courage to stand in front of a large group of adults and represent Bradfield in such a positive way.

The School Board had the opportunity to recognize District safety partnerships that include the Highland Park ISD Police Department, the City of University Park Police Department, the Town of Highland Park Department of Public Safety and the SMU Police Department. Additionally, Bradfield family Benjamin and MacKenzie Carpenter, in partnership with Highland Park Education Foundation, was recognized for the generous gift they recently gave that further supports the safety of our schools. Thank you, Benjamin and MacKenzie for ensuring safety is a top priority for all Scots!

Bradfield Dads Club kicked off their annual BDC Breakfast this week. It spoke volumes when the cafeteria was full of Dads by 7 AM to enjoy fellowship with one another. Thank you to BDC’s President, Benjamin Carpenter and his Exec Board for leading the way. We would also like to thank Ms. Susan, Ms. Joyce, Ms. Debra and Jaime for getting to school extra early to make such a delicious breakfast. I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful things our BDC does this year to support our Broncos!

Walk to School Day was a big success thanks to PTA Community Outreach Chairs Lora Grabowsky and Kate Ryan. They organized and partnered with the YMCA and HPPD to make it a fun and safe event! Students received safety pencils and stickers while parents enjoyed Herb’s House Coffee Truck as a bonus. Thanks, ladies, for all of your hard work.

Shout out to Jill Johnson and Mrs. Penman’s class for all of your hard work to make sure that our Broncos have access to our beautiful library and books while we are in search of a certified librarian. Ms. Johnson wears many hats, but I think this one might be her favorite. Mrs. Penman has stepped in and has worked with her fourth grade students to “Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve.” Fourth graders are collecting books, learning how to organize the books to be ready to shelve and helping our younger Broncos learn the library procedures. Awesome job!

I encourage you to check out this week’s Broncoland photos.

I look forward to seeing you and your children at the front door!

IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR THE READING RODEO, SO GET READY FOR SOME ROCKSTAR READING!

It’s going to be a fun-filled week of reading with our 5th Annual Reading Rodeo! This read-a-thon fundraiser encourages K-4th grade students to achieve a personal reading goal while raising funds for Bradfield. Thanks to the generosity of our underwriting sponsor, Origin Bank, 100% of the funds raised will directly benefit Bradfield! Please help us achieve our goal of raising $115,000!

Reading Rodeo will kick off Wednesday, September 20 starting at 7:30AM with a special TOP SECRET PERFORMANCE during morning drop off. You won’t want to miss it! After school, students can create their own fundraising page at pledgestar.com/bradfield.

From 9/20-27, K-4th grade students will:

  1. Read during school and at home
  2. Record the minutes they read
  3. Ask family, friends, and neighbors for their support

Every student can participate in the Reading Rodeo, regardless of his or her financial contribution.

All minutes and pledges must be logged by 10 pm Wednesday, September 27. Reading Rodeo will culminate with an awards ceremony (students only) on Friday, September 29 during which prizes will be awarded to the top readers and classes.

Reading Rodeo brochures with full details of the event were sent home on Friday, September 15. Below are the highlights for the week.

A Message from our PTA President, Laura McCallan

It was another great week to be a Bronco here at Bradfield!

I’d like to thank Lindsey Baker & Corrie Rae for getting our sports court cleaned up and patriotically decorated in preparation for our Patriot’s Day Ceremony on Monday. It was so wonderful to see so many members of our community come together for this meaningful event.

I’d also like to thank Lora Grabowsky & Kate Ryan for organizing a successful Walk to School Day on Friday. I hope our students enjoyed walking to school and learning about pedestrian safety from Lieutenant Russell, Highland Park DPS, and YMCA volunteers.

Lastly, thank you to Jennifer Morton & Genevieve Short for handling all the planning and logistics for our school yearbook photos this week. It’s not a small feat to organize taking 600+ photos over a two day period. We appreciate their hard work.

Go Broncos!

Bravo Broncos!

Congratulations to the Morgan and Young families!

First Grade teacher, Mrs. Morgans and Second Grade teacher, Mrs. Young were on a race to see which baby girl would arrive the soonest. Mrs. Morgans beat Mrs. Young only by a couple of days. Please help me welcome our newest additions to the Bradfield Family.

Baby Mimi Morgans was born, September 10 weighing in at 8 lbs. 3 oz. and is a little bundle of joy. Her Mama, Daddy and BIG brothers are having the best time spoiling her!

Baby Fallon Mae Young arrived September 14 weighing in at 8 lbs. 4 oz. She is already feeling the love from her Mama, Daddy and BIG sister!
