A Message from Principal Dumar
Hello Bradfield Families!
|
The last week of school is already here. It seems like yesterday we were anxiously awaiting the new school year to make a difference in the lives of each Bronco. I am so proud of the work our teachers and staff members performed this year. I have continued to say, for the past six years, that Bradfield is a special community and this year was no different. The kindness, compassion and encouragement that is shown from the teachers and staff, the students and the parents just doesn’t compare to any other school. When you hear, “it takes a village,” I am thankful to work alongside this village!
I would like to say a special thank you to the following volunteers for making this year phenomenal!
PTA President, Kate Cutshall, for her leadership and passion to ensure our student’s needs and academics were always put first. She is a true advocate for the Bradfield community. No one, except maybe her family, will ever know how much time she dedicated this past year. With Kate’s attention to detail, she has made our school look even more beautiful inside and out. She has definitely left an amazing mark on Bradfield that will last for decades. Thank you, Kate and job well done!
Bradfield Dads Club President, Scott Trulock, for being such an advocate and supporter for the students and staff. No matter the request, Scott along with a team of Dads, were there at a moment's notice to lend a helping hand. Thank you, Scott, for having such a positive attitude as you volunteered for carpool, cafeteria, putting together shelves and of course crushing it at the Convocation school relay. Who knew you had “ups?!” Thank you, Scott!
Communication Chair, Jen Sowders, for dedicating her late nights and weekends to ensure the Bronco eBulletin went out to keep our families in the know. Thank you, Jen, for your patience, as you waited on my message each week!
Bradfield Dads Club Carpool Chair, Jake Francis, for organizing weekly shifts and encouraging Dads to help keep our precious gems safe. Rain, shine or sleet, each day our Dads showed up, with a smile on their faces to help carpool run safe and efficiently. Thank you, Jake and Bradfield Dads!
Bradfield PTA Exec, PTA Chairs, Bradfield Dads Club Exec, BDC Chairs and the many parents who volunteered their time and offered their support to help us make it through a memorable year! The staff and I are forever thankful we have the opportunity to be a part of the Bradfield community!
As you know, the staff loves celebrating each other especially for major mile markers. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve enjoyed celebrating upcoming weddings, years of service and awards.
We showered Kindergarten Assistant, Madelyn Marks, on her upcoming wedding this summer to Charlie Wensinger. You will be leaving Ms. Marks and returning as MRS. Wensinger. We wish you and Charlie all of the happiness!

As we begin wrapping up this last week, we want to wish the following Bradfield family members all the best of luck in their new adventures.
Mary Mills, Third Grade Teacher, as she continues making a difference in the lives of children at The Oakridge School in Arlington. It was a difficult decision, but this will allow her to be closer to home where she can take full advantage of being a loving wife and bonus mom. Thank you, Mary, for making the commute all of these years in order to encourage, love and teach our Broncos.
Amy Jent, Librarian, as she will begin enjoying time with her husband as they fade into the next chapter of their lives. Even though it was not an easy decision, she has promised to continue supporting Bradfield in a variety of ways and will never lose the excitement of encouraging children to read. I’m not sure this is the last we will see of Amy, but thank you for making the library a fun and exhilarating place for our Broncos!
Meghan Chauncy, Take Flight Teacher, as she continues her path in teaching children to read. She was not with us long, but we are thankful for the time she spent with our Broncos to ensure they had the opportunity to build the skills to improve their reading.
Kyleigh Campbell, Teaching Assistant, has taken a position with Mockingbird Elementary as a teacher. We were lucky to have Kyleigh step in, the past couple of months, to spread joy wherever she was needed. Her eagerness and enthusiasm to help, learn and teach will take her a long way in the years to come.
Thank you, ladies, for your dedication to the Bradfield community over the years. You have played an instrumental role in the lives of our Broncos and our staff. You will forever be in our hearts and your laughter and positivity will permeate through these walls for years to come!

Last Day of School Information
It is hard to believe the last day of school is quickly approaching. Fourth graders are excited about their last rite of passage traditions as our PreK-3rd grade students enjoy theirs as well. While we are able to celebrate our fourth grade students with their traditional breakfast, video and graduation, PreK-3rd graders will be enjoying their last opportunities with their teacher and classmates. For this reason, we ask that Bradfield younger siblings not attend the 4th grade graduation ceremony.
PreK-3rd graders play an important role honoring our fourth graders by watching the 4th grade video in their classrooms as well as the traditional 4th Grade Clap Out. PreK-3 graders proudly line the hallways with their classmates and teachers as the fourth graders take one last walk through the building.
The last day of school is such a special day for all of our students. We especially congratulate our fourth graders and the achievements they have accomplished throughout their elementary years. I look forward to celebrating our fourth graders, May 26th one last time before they head off on a new path.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Jim Kennedy family in his passing. Mr. Kennedy was a P.E. Coach at Bradfield for over 30 years. Each year, Bradfield awards the Jim Kennedy Award to two Fourth Grade students who exhibit sportsmanship and fair play, not just in athletics, but in their daily school life. It is awarded to one boy and one girl who best exemplifies how Coach Kennedy lived his life with high regards to fairness, consideration of helping others and respect for students and staff. Coach Kennedy’s obituary may be viewed here.
You will not want to miss this week's Broncoland spotlight below. There were so many fabulous learning opportunities for our students. This week’s highlights include: Taco Trucks, Fire Truck Ride, Kinder earning their wings, 1st Grade Camp Out, 2nd Grade Economics Fair and Science Lab.

I look forward to seeing you and your children at the front door for the last week of school!

A Message from our PTA President, Kate Cutshall

I’m in disbelief that the time has come to say good-bye! If you’ve made it this far in the bulletin, THANK YOU for taking the time to read each week! It’s hard to believe that it was just four years ago that my family and I moved to Dallas from the East Coast. Despite our first school year being cut short by the pandemic, it was an incredible feeling to be embraced by such a special community. We knew immediately that Bradfield was unique. It has been a privilege to serve this year, and I leave with a full and grateful heart.
We are all so incredibly fortunate to live in a community that welcomes and encourages parent and family involvement. Our children may not recognize it now (or even thank us!), but I firmly believe that all the precious moments we've spent at Bradfield, either volunteering or even simply walking our kids to their classroom, will collectively leave an indelible impression on all Bradfield students that will last the rest of their lives.
It has been an honor to work with all our PTA chairs, and there are nearly 100 of you! I hope you know how much your dedication has meant to our school and how little has gone unnoticed. What we have achieved this year is astounding! From the start of the year with Reading Rodeo to ending next week with Field Day (and thank you in advance to superstar Co-Chairs, Adriane Crosland and Megan Filgo), our team of 39 committees funnel into our Executive Board, which is comprised of 13 incredible women who have served our school in such a meaningful way. Please join me in recognizing and thanking:
- Laura McCallan, President Elect
- Beth Birdwell, Member at Large & VP Buildings & Grounds
- Jennifer Bergin – VP Technology Resources
- Allison Small – Secretary
- Katie Tauscher – VP Buildings & Grounds
- Kamela Aboussie – VP Teacher Liaison
- Lindsey Baker & Holly Navarre – VP Development
- Jen Sowders – VP Communications
- Katie Patterson – VP Communications Elect
- Diana Swope – Treasurer
- Lindsay Grider – Treasurer Elect
- Margaret Neubauer – Cafeteria Finance
- Shannon Warren – Cafeteria Finance Elect
Bradfield is in the best hands with Laura McCallan next year as your new PTA President. With four precious children at school, there is no one more plugged in than Laura. With her kind heart, “can-do” attitude, and superior organizational skills, she will serve Bradfield very well. I wish her and her new team all the best in the coming year. Laura has been a true friend and she will lead Bradfield boldly!
Finally, I’d like to thank Regina Dumar, for her leadership at our beloved school. It has been an absolute pleasure and honor working side by side this year. I have loved and cherished our time spent together, and she has taught me an immeasurable amount of how things get done “behind the scenes.” Thank you, Regina, for being such a ray of sunshine, I sure am going to miss you and our time together!

As we wrap up another terrific year at Bradfield, I'd like to take a minute to thank our fantastic PTA president, Kate Cutshall. Kate and her amazing team have accomplished so much this year. There is so much that goes into this job- countless emails, texts, phone calls, and hours of planning. All throughout this journey, I have been in awe of her ability to handle it all with grace, thoughtfulness, and the patience of a saint. Kate, your genuine concern for Bradfield shines through. We THANK YOU for your continued support of our school, our staff, our kids, and our families. We wish you the best of luck as you transition to a full-time middle school parent, and hope you'll remember you're always a part of our Bronco family!
To our Bradfield community- thank you. Through your dedication as parents and staff, your volunteer hours, fundraising efforts, generosity, and overall commitment to this school, we have accomplished so much this year and we couldn't do it without you. I wish you all a restful and relaxing Summer and look forward to serving as your next Bradfield PTA President for the 2023-24 school year.
Have a wonderful Summer!
Laura McCallan
