A Message from Principal Dumar

Bradfield Families,

How is the last week of school here so fast? It seems like it was only a couple of days ago we were anxiously waiting to open the doors for a brand new school year. I have been honored to work alongside so many incredible team members this year! I am proud of the work our teachers and staff members executed this year. I have continued to say, for the past seven years, that Bradfield is a special community and this year was no different. The kindness, compassion and encouragement that is shown from the teachers and staff, the students and the parents just doesn’t compare to any other school. When you hear, “it takes a village,” I am thankful to work alongside this village!

I would like to say a special thank you to the following volunteers for making this year phenomenal!

PTA President, Laura McCallan, for her unwavering support, leadership, organization and her ability to turn any event and/or situation into a ton of fun! She is a true advocate for the Bradfield community. No one, except maybe her family, will ever know how much time she dedicated this past year. With her detail in making sure our school looked beautiful inside and out, she has definitely made an unbelievable mark on Bradfield that will last for decades to come. Thank you, Laura, and job well done!

Bradfield Dads Club President, Benjamin Carpenter, for demonstrating his servant leadership time and time again. I know we could always count on your calm presence and dedication to get the job done well.I appreciate your positive attitude and giving heart as you volunteered your time and resources in more areas than most will ever know. Thank you, Benjamin, for putting Bradfield first!

Communication Chair, Jen Sowders, for two years of countless time dedicated to ensure the Bronco Bulletin went out, on time, to keep our families in the know. Many late hours and weekends were spent revising, editing and exhibiting patience as you waited on my message each week. Thank you, Jen!

PTA VP Teacher Liaison, Kamela Aboussie, for her passion as she led her team in spreading joy throughout the school. Everytime we turned around, she was encouraging the staff through her thoughtful gestures, sweet notes and precious smile. She has such a giving and kind heart and she lifted our spirits more than she will ever know. Thank you, Kam!

Bradfield Dads Club Carpool Chair Taylor Baird, for organizing weekly shifts and encouraging Dads to help keep our precious gems safe. Rain or shine, each day our Dads showed up, with a smile on their faces to help carpool run safe and efficiently. Thank you, Taylor and Bradfield Dads!

Bradfield PTA Exec, PTA Chairs, Bradfield Dads Club Exec, BDC Chairs and the many parents who volunteered their time and offered their support to help us make it through a memorable year! The staff and I are forever thankful we have the opportunity to be a part of the Bradfield community!

Thank you to PTA for spreading excitement throughout the building. You are definitely sending the staff off into summer vacay mode with a big splash! We appreciate your gratitude and efforts to keep spirits high this year! WE LOVE YOU!!

I would like to say a special thank you in advance to PTA Field Day Chairs, Lauren Calano and Carolyn Cross, for organizing a fun Field Day. I can’t wait for the students to see what’s in store for them this year. Thank you, ladies, for your time spent for what I know will be a great one! Please see below for more details.

First Graders participated in a week long Reading/Writing Camp at Bradfield and earned multiple badges for their accomplishments. Thanks to the many volunteers who helped make it such a success this year!

Second graders loved creating and selling during their annual Economics Fair. There was a lot of learning and money exchanging hands during this event!

As we begin wrapping up this last week, we want to wish the following Bradfield family members all the best of luck in their new adventures.

  • Kim Hartis, Nurse, as she transitions to Crandall ISD as a nurse to be closer to home and family.
  • Valarie Proudfoot, Instructional Coach, as she takes on the new role of HPISD District ELAR Coordinator.
  • Cynthia Marlow, Special Education Coordinator, as she has been named HPISD Director of Special Services.
  • Mary Martha Morgan, 1st grade teacher, as she takes on the rewarding role of full time mom of 3 and wife.
  • Farah Sakhai, Teaching Assistant, as she will be moving to a substitute position as she focuses on her parents and family.
  • Kathleen Berry, Dale Goldschmidt & Shirley Martin as they ride off into the sunset and enjoy their much deserved retirement and relaxation!

Thank you, team, for your dedication to the Bradfield community over the years. You have played an instrumental role in the lives of our Broncos and our staff. You will forever be in our hearts and your laughter and positivity will permeate through these walls for years to come!

I encourage you to check out this week’s Broncoland photos.

Last Day of School Information

It is hard to believe the last day of school is quickly approaching. Fourth graders are excited about their last rite of passage traditions as our PreK-3rd grade students enjoy theirs as well. While we are able to celebrate our fourth grade students with their traditional breakfast, video and graduation, PreK-3rd graders will be enjoying their last opportunities with their teacher and classmates. For this reason, we ask that Bradfield younger siblings not attend the 4th grade graduation ceremony.

PreK-3rd graders play an important role honoring our fourth graders by watching the 4th grade video in their classrooms as well as the traditional 4th Grade Clap Out. PreK-3rd graders proudly line the hallways with their classmates and teachers as the fourth graders take one last walk through the building.

The last day of school is such a special day for all of our students. We especially congratulate our fourth graders and the achievements they have accomplished throughout their elementary years. I look forward to celebrating our fourth graders, May 24th one last time before they head off on a new path.

Be sure to get registered by July 31!

For current families, BSSU information will be emailed so watch your inbox for important information and instructions! New families will receive information via mail.

A Message from our PTA President, Laura McCallan

Our time together has nearly come to an end. As we start this final week of the school year, I can’t help but get a little emotional when I reflect on everything we’ve done together this year. I want to sincerely thank each of our parents, staff, students, and administrators who helped us to accomplish so much in support of our beloved Bradfield over the last 10 months.

Please join me in thanking Sari McCoy & Allison Small, who helped to organize our last staff gift distribution of the year this week complete with hawaiian themed gift bags and hula skirts. Thank you ladies for always going the extra mile to make our staff feel special!

I’d also like to thank Carolyn Cross & Lauren Calano, who are planning an incredible Field Day this Friday! Thank you girls for all the effort and time you’ve put into making this such a fun final event of the school year.

I’d also like to thank our 4th Grade Programming Chairs, who have worked so hard to prepare everything down to the last detail this coming week to celebrate our graduating 4th Graders. Thank you Allison Dickey, Jess Rugg, Beth Peters, Merry Wyatt, Libby Mason & Stacy Hicks. We are so thankful for your dedication to our 4th Graders.

Lastly, I want to acknowledge not only the time our parents and community have given us this year, but also the resources they have given. It has been an incredibly successful fundraising year for Bradifeld, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of each of you. With your help, the PTA was able to give Bradfield more than $414,000 this year. For a detailed listing of all the items funded this year, please take a look at our Fall Gift Letter and our Spring Gift Letter. In addition to these gifts, I am proud to say that the PTA provided more than $150,000 to our teachers and staff this year through financial gifts, district subsidies, tuition reimbursements and luncheons. Supporting our staff and school is the purpose of the PTA. Thank you for helping our efforts to do just that this year.

Go Broncos!

Laura McCallan

A Message from our PTA President-Elect, Rachel Reed

I am honored and excited (and a bit nervous, to be honest) to serve as Bradfield’s PTA President for 2024-25. Like many of you, I love Bradfield! The sounds of joy, laughter and excitement that fill the halls and echo from the playgrounds bring me so much joy. That we, as PTA, can support and foster this amazing environment for our children and the Bradfield staff is such a gift.

Next year is shaping up to be a very exciting one around Bradfield as we prepare to give a great Bronco welcome to our new principal, Dr. Aimee Hilton. PTA is excited to partner with her in the coming months as she settles into her new role. We look forward to sharing with her our Bronco traditions as well as creating new memories together with her.

Principal Dumar, your fingerprints are on the hearts of our children and the halls of our beautiful building. Thank you for literally making Bradfield what it is today. We wish you all the best and hope that, even in retirement, it’s a great day to have a great day.

As Principal Dumar loves to say, Bradfield runs on “Parent Power”. I am personally grateful to the ’23-24 PTA Officers and countless other volunteers for their service to Bradfield. To the nearly one hundred individuals who volunteered to serve as Officers in ’24-25, thank you!

Finally, no words could adequately express the PTA’s, and my own, gratitude to Laura McCallan for the endless time, thought, consideration and love she poured into Bradfield as PTA President this year. No detail was too small or task too big for her to tackle! Laura, you have permanently raised the bar and are leaving me large shoes to fill.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy summer. I look forward to reuniting with you in August at Back to School.

With Gratitude,

Rachel Reed
