A Message from Principal Dumar

Bradfield Families,

Words cannot express my gratitude for the incredible support, for Bradfield, during our annual Reading Rodeo. Not only was it a fun-filled event that encouraged Broncos to read, but your generosity was much more than anticipated! On behalf of our Broncos and staff, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

One more thank you to our Reading Rodeo Chairs, Kendra Allen, Susannah Bame, and Aubrey Labanowski for encouraging our students to be Reading Rockstars as well as raising the much needed funds for Bradfield. Also, a special thank you to Steve Noviello for being our incredible emcee for the celebration.

A shout out to our Rockstar Broncos who well exceeded the goal and hit an all-time record $155,172.58 to support Bradfield Elementary!

Safety tip of the week-Please remind your children to lock their bikes/scooters while they are at school. Sadly, Chief Rowden has had reports of bike/scooter theft in the Park Cities. Let’s keep ‘em safe and lock ‘em up!

Monday, during BBTV, Mrs. Berry and Mrs. Kennemer began a new Mind Mystery section where students are presented with an opportunity to think out of the box. This week, students learned about a “Hink Pink.” The answer to the riddle was two words, each has one syllable and the words must rhyme. Ask your children if they can explain a Hink Pink.

This week’s riddle was: What is a kind grizzly?

Answer: Care Bear

This week’s Writer of the Week was third grader, Piper Henderson, from Ms. Kemendo’s class. Her assignment was to write an All About, Informational Essay where Piper chose to write about the history of Barbie. She described in great detail how the creator of Barbie and Ken were named after her own children. It also made me feel a little old when she described how Barbie’s first dream house was made out of cardboard just like mine. Oh how Barbie’s dream house has evolved. Thank you, Piper, for sharing many fun facts about the doll we all love.

Congratulations to Ms. Valarie Proudfoot on her upcoming marriage to her long-time sweetheart, Jesse. The staff enjoyed celebrating her and giving a last Fiesta before she ties the knot in Isla Mujeres this week! Congratulations, Ms. Proudfoot! We love you!

I encourage you to check out this week’s Broncoland photos.

A Message from our PTA President, Laura McCallan

The last weeks of September were full of excitement as we successfully completed our first large fundraiser of the year, Reading Rodeo! Thanks to our students, staff, parents, and generous family & friends we were able to raise $155,172 for Bradfield! This significantly exceeded our goal of $115,000. Thank you to our fabulous Reading Rodeo chairs, Aubrey Labanowski, Kendra Allen & Susannah Bame who have been working tirelessly on this event since the end of last year. They truly knocked it out of the park from our kickoff concert to our celebratory donut party. Way to go, girls!

Please also join me in thanking:

Brooke Ryan, Aimee Key & Katie Cox, who kicked off our Gift Books tradition this Wednesday in the library. Gift Books allows students to select a book to donate to the library in their name during their birthday month. You can sign up for Gift Books during BSSU each year.

Liz Lynch, Marjon Henderson & Loren Heller for stocking our Supply Shop and making sure we are ready for opening day on October 3rd. We are excited to add some new Bradfield branded items this year.

Lastly, I’d like to announce that the soft serve offering in the Cafeteria has been extended from 1st Fridays, to EVERY Friday starting in October (& Halloween!) Thank you to our Cafeteria Team: Shannon Warren, Jourdy Wallace, Steve Noviello, Lee Drummond, as well as our Day Captains: Whitney Donaldson, Sarah Claire Corrigan, Mari Foteh, Rose Deljavan & Katie Honea for ALL that they do for the Cafeteria.

Go Broncos!
